Now 17 runs and two years since last victory but has been threatening to end that barren spell lately, ran a stormer over 6f at Chepstow (soft) last month, finishing a neck second, and races off the same mark now.
Very consistent this season, finishing out of the first two just once in seven most recent starts, with four wins. Rated 24lb higher than when winning over 5f here in July but continues to thrive and just held at Bath off 82. Relishes soft ground.
Another that knows where the winning post is with two wins from five turf starts this season. Heavy ground is a worry and most recent run at Chepstow suggested handicapper might be taking control for now.
Looked better than ever when winning at Thirsk (6f, good) in July and is only 1lb higher now, does handle cut in the ground but back-peddled rapidly having raced prominently on heavy over 6f at Haydock just four days ago.
Completed a double when winning over 6f at Windsor (good) in July. Disappointed over 5f subsequently and interesting to see how he fares on what should be a real test over 6f on heavy, having won both of his starts over 7f previously.
Both wins came in 2015 for Richard Hannon, has had some setbacks since but still retains ability, as shown 29 days ago over 6f on soft at Goodwood when third of seven attempting to come from off the pace. Not ruled out, but may need more relief.
Sole success came over this trip (good to soft) in a Newbury novices' event last year but she has been badly out of sorts since finishing second at Newmarket in May. Possibly best watched despite a falling mark.
Latest success came over 6f (soft) at Chepstow in June off mark of 72. Hasn't really threatened in seven runs on turf since but has not dropped to within 1lb of that winning mark again, so can be considered for this.
Sole turf success was over 1m2f (good) from 6lb higher mark all the way back in May 2015. Is 1-29 on turf but run two solid races since joining this handler at Chepstow (7f, good to soft) and Epsom (6f, good) to make frame both times .
Forecasts
Amood (5/2), Sir Billy Wright (4/1), Our Lord (9/2), Clear Spring (6/1), Poet's Princess (9/1), Francisco (12/1), The Daley Express (16/1), Dandy Flame (16/1), Satchville Flyer (25/1)
Amood has run a couple of solid races since joining this yard, albeit favourite backers have been let down on both occasions, he should be in the mix again but is hard to side with for win purposes. The Daley Express is in good form but might just have crept towards his handicap ceiling while Satchville Flyer has been toiling but is going the opposite way and is on a decent mark now. Our Lord will relish the conditions and has been a model of consistency this season but CLEAR SPRING has been hinting of a return to winning ways and finished a good second on soft at Chepstow recently over this trip and might go one better from an unchanged mark.
- Clear Spring
- Our Lord
- Satchville Flyer
