Impressive form figures and arrives here in great heart. Never won over this trip under rules but has a likable attitude and may well rise to the challenge despite carry top weight.

Holding his form well just now and decent claims from just 5lb higher than last winning mark. Also a plus point that he likes this course, so should be capable of a bold effort.

Behind My Idea at Hexham last time, which was a better effort than some of his recent performances. More required and not certain to appreciate the extra distance.

Capable over timber but yet to shine over fences. In the right hands to learn but is running out of chances and looks one to be wary of just now.

Has form to reverse with Dica but is open to improvement over fences - makes just his third start over the larger obstacles. Not seen since June, though.

Good effort to win over fences on final start for Sue Smith and has subsequently back it up with a couple of near misses since joining his current trainer. Proven liking for these fences a bonus, which places him higher on the shortlist than most.

Yet to win a race but shown he has the ability to do so on numerous occasions. Tongue tie fitted today but probably best to gauge the reaction of the betting market before taking the hint that he may be good value for a place in the frame.

Back to winning way at Hexham last month but found Dica too good when making a quick return to the same course shortly afterwards. Respected but stiff test at the weights.

Will act on the ground and stays the trip but has been pulled up on too many occasions to be given anything more than a cursory mention.

Mahler Bay9
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-3| J: C O'Farrell| T: Kenny Johnson| OR:  82

Unexposed over fences but needs a might amount of improvement to get involved. Pulled up latest, and hard to envisage he will be capable of springing a surprise result.

Of only average ability and not won since 2015. Glimpses of a revival of late but only in very weak company.

Of equal ability over fences to hurdles but seems to have lost his way in this sphere and plenty to prove just now. Does like this course, however, so possible the return to Sedgefield will bring something out of him. One for speculatators only

Brown Trixt138
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR:  78

Point-to-point form generally poor and rules form not much better. Easy to oppose from out of the weights.

Horse silk
Aregrav19
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Page Fuller(5)| T: P D Niven| OR:  77| D
12/1
Has won over fences but not since 2015 and posted a rare blip when unseated the rider at the first last time out (Dica the eventual winner of that race). Stiff test ahead from out the handicap and not hard to oppose.

Forecasts

Brown Trix (5/1), Between The Waters (11/2), Dica (7/1), Sendiym (7/1), Captain Mowbray (7/1), Perseid (17/2), Brother Scott (10/1), Aregra (12/1), Muwalla (14/1), Boss Des Mottes (14/1), Larkhall (28/1), My Idea (33/1), Mahler Bay (100/1), Trillerin Minella (100/1)

Verdict

This may be with the capabilities of DICA, who holds a few of these on the form of his latest run and may have enough room from his current mark to shrug off the burden of top weight. Muwalla and Brother Scott head the list of alternatives in a race where consistency is pretty thin on the ground. Captain Mowbray may be best of the remainder.
  1. Dica
  2. Muwalla
  3. Brother Scott
