Back to back winner earlier in the season and put a couple of indifferent efforts behind her when running out an impressive winner over 5f on soft ground at Goodwood last month. Live contender if in the same vein from 6lb higher.

Acts well with cut in the ground though is not easy to win with, despite running some very good races in defeat. That was the case in Listed company last month but he struggled returned to handicapping here last time.

Yet to win this year but has run well on occasions including when third behind Duke Of Firenze at York in soft ground. Indifferent subsequent form - mainly over 6f - means he has dropped 5lb from that so he has to be of interest now.

A C&D winner last year on soft ground from a similar mark so respected for that reason alone and has just come to the boil nicely of late, winning well on heavy ground at Leicester on Monday. Big chance under 6lb penalty.

A reformed character after a wind operation, making it three 5f wins from his last four starts when scoring at Ripon (good to firm) earlier this month. Has handled testing ground without winning on it but 4lb rise may prove too much.

Only juvenile win came in the mud at Tipperary and has improved for a switch to this yard, beating subsequent winner Soie D'Leau by 1L on heavy ground here last time. Actually re-opposes on better terms, so big chance if stall 12 no issue.

A winner over 5f at Ayr on good ground in June but equally at home on ground with cut, as she proved when winning at York previously. Not at her best the last twice but dangerous to discount with her yard in such good form.

Won a valuable handicap at Musselburgh last year and is now rated 6lb lower on the back of a largely frustrating campaign. Not disgraced at York and Doncaster of late and interesting to see how he responds to new headgear.

Won three times as a juvenile on the AW but strike-rate had been a little disappointing on turf until winning a weak handicap on soft ground at Yarmouth last time out. Raised 3lb and this is a much deeper race.

Veteran regained the winning habit at Chester (5f, good to soft) in July and has remained in decent heart since, finishing third in a 12-runner C&D event (heavy) 3 weeks ago. Likely to remain competitive.

Tends to do most of his racing at Chester where he regained the winning thread last time out when exploiting a good draw to win on much quicker ground. Did win on soft ground in his younger days but raised 5lb and looks vulnerable.

Not won since a runaway maiden success at Southwell over two years ago, though has has finished a runner-up at York twice this season. Decent effort when third on soft ground over C&D last time but others look more likely.

Highly-progressive sort who swooped late to win at Chester (5f, good) latest, having also won over 6f there on his previous turf run. Likely there is more to come but raised 4lb and remains unproven on ground this testing.

Has won back-to-back races on two separate occasions this year, all four wins coming on soft or heavy ground. Respected here for that reason, even though his most recent effort at Ffos Las was underwhelming.

Forecasts

Mayleaf Shine (7/2), Soie D'leau (11/2), Quench Dolly (11/2), Confessional (9/1), Boundsy (10/1), Rasheeq (10/1), Hoofalong (11/1), Tarboosh (12/1), Powerallied (16/1), Poyle Vinnie (20/1), Coolfitch (20/1), Kinglami (25/1), Poet's Society (25/1), Green Door (25/1)

Verdict

Not always easy to predict how the draw will play out in these conditions but, all things been equal, MAYLEAF SHINE could take some stopping. Ian Jardine's progressive filly was actually competing on worse terms with Soie D'Leau when beating that rival by 1L over C&D in similar conditions last time out and the latter has since given the form a massive boost by going one better here next time. Quench Dolly is another progressive filly worth considering, Boundsy would be be a big danger if handling the ground, whilst Poyle Vinnie may offer some bigger-price each-way value back over 5f.
