Landed a minor Lingfield contest that probably amounted to little. Won easily enough but he still looks vulnerable under his penalty.

Promise on Newbury debut before finishing a close-up fifth at Wolverhampton, finishing strongly over 5f. Step up in trip should help, but others have stronger claims.

Went down by a short-head on debut but that form has not worked out particularly well and he too was soundly beaten here next time.

7,500 gns half-brother to a couple of minor 7f winners. You would not expect newcomers form this small yard to be competitive at this level and he has a tough draw too.

80,000 gns son of Society Rock out of an unraced dam who is related to some useful sprinters. The market is usually a good indicator with this stable's newcomers.

Dubawi colt, half-brother to several winners including two-year-old winning sprinter Wahaab and dam a winner of both Cheveley Park and Coronation Stakes. Retained rider opts for Sarookh but hard to dismiss given current form of the stable.

Half-brother to three winners and out of a dam who was a Listed winner at 1m2f. Bred to want further than the 6f he had for his debut at Newcastle when he was not knocked about behind an impressive winner. Rider's choice from a possible three.
175,000 gns daughter of Exceed and Excel who shaped with promise on her debut here (7f) but then failed to progress at Newmarket (6f). Has been supported on both occasions but faces a stiff task against the colts.

Comfortably held in two modest races and this looks an even stronger contest. Showed little improvement last time and requires a giant step forward now on AW debut.

Forecasts

Sarookh (11/4), Bowler Hat (9/2), It's Not Unusual (7/1), Nice Shot (15/2), Sing Out Loud (8/1), Maghaweer (8/1), Ace Of Spades (8/1), Fakhoor (14/1), Bobby's Charm (14/1), Enzo's Lad (16/1), Storm Jazz (25/1), Don't Cry About It (66/1)

Verdict

Owner Hamdan Al-Maktoum holds a strong hand in this with three representatives from yards that are going well. His retained jockey opts for the experience of SAROOKH who showed plenty of promise on his debut and will be better suited to this trip. It would surprise few if Maghaweer proved the rider wrong given the current form of his yard's youngsters. Enzo's Lad and Ace of Spades are a couple to monitor in the market.
  1. Sarookh
  2. Maghaweer
  3. Bowler Hat
