Not better than mid-division finishes over 7f in two career starts (Salisbury and Kempton). More required over this extra yardage, and looks more of a nursery type with one more qualifying run under his belt.

Unraced First Defence colt out of Seeking Ema who cost 38,000 gns as a yearling ($5,000 foal). Half-brother to US turf extended mile winner Talkless Smilemore.

Dwelt and met trouble at the start when a never nearer fifth of eight on his nursery debut at Chester (7f soft) last month. Up in trip for AW debut and has claims of sorts being a half-brother to 7f/1m winner Fire Tree.

His pedigree suggests that he needs a trip, and he gave that impression on debut when keeping on to finish fourth of 11 to Eesha Beauty over 7f at Wolverhampton last month. Capable of better now upped to 1m.

Yet to race beyond 6f, and his three efforts to date are steady rather than spectacular ones. A half-brother to six winners, but best watched until he proves his stamina over this longer trip.
Seemingly regressed from a fairly positive debut at Ascot in July, but his Yarmouth disappointment could be attributable to soft ground. A 35,000 gns yearling who is worth another chance, but ideally needs to break on terms today.

Unraced colt by Rock Of Gibraltar out of Snowpalm. Cost 14,000 gns earlier this year and is a fifth foal who is closely related to Italian 1m1f/1m2f winner Super Dukessa.
€38,000 juvenile by Kodiac out of Cat Fire (who herself was a 6f juvenile winner). Once raced (7f standard at Newcastle), and needs to build upon that effort behind Chrisellaine (third Champarisi has won since) in order to be involved.

Verdict

GRIPPER is a horse who very much appears to need a test of stamina in order to be seen at his best, so in many respects Lingfield Park might not prove the ideal track for him. However, with a pleasing 7f Wolverhampton debut under his belt, he is probably worth chancing now stepped up to 1m in a race which probably isn't overly competitive. Of the remainder, Gossip Column could prove strongest dropping back from a nursery handicap at Chester latest.
