Yard have been having a very quiet year with their juveniles and this one provided them with a rare winner over 6f at Carlisle showing improved form from his debut. Will find this tougher giving weight away to the entire field on his third start.

Comes from a speedy family having cost £58,000 as a yearling and represents a powerful stable who are capable of having juvenile winners on debut. Only 1/28 over the past five years here though with plenty getting placed.

One of two from this stable with Canford's Joy holding the edge on experience with this one having a fairly modest pedigree. May be best watched on debut with the yard having had a moderate year overall.

Half-brother to a couple of winners with Vintage Folly being the best of them out of a dam who was a winner over a mile. Stable are going well with their juveniles (20% strike-rate) and well worth checking in the market on his debut.

Well fancied (started 9/4) when showing his inexperience on debut over 5f at Beverley from a wide draw when he was slowly away. Clearly thought capable of better given the price he started at on debut and be seen to better effect here.

Showed improvement on his second start although his initial keenness made him pay a price in the finish. On the evidence of his two runs so far he looks to have some potential if he can just settle better early on.

Needed the experience on her first run and looked a little keen over 7f at Haydock on firm ground. Open to improvement although this ground will be rather different to that she experienced on her debut and the 6f may be ideal.

Stable are in good form but this one finished well held on her debut at Newcastle on the AW over 6f. Her pedigree suggests that she could be better than her initial run and is worth keeping an eye on in the betting.

Forecasts

Three Saints Bay (6/4), Dutch Academy (7/2), Altered Method (9/2), Dalawyna (8/1), Canford's Joy (10/1), Emphatic (14/1), Swiss Marlin (20/1), Balmec (40/1)

Verdict

Quite a decent novice event to start the card with Canford’s Joy setting a decent standard although she he could find it difficult to give away the penalty here. Emphatic should do better on his second run given how well fancied he was on debut but THREE SAINTS BAY is the suggestion given how he’s making progress and the shorter trip and stronger pace should suit him better. Altered Method appears to be the best of the newcomers with Dalawyna open to improvement with the 6f looking to suit.
  1. Three Saints Bay
  2. Emphatic
  3. Dalawyna
