Certainly hinted at ability on his debut at Newmarket over 6f (always looked to need further) although he needed the experience. Should do better now he's given a trip which fits better with his pedigree.

Started out over a mile and showed something to work on and despite a mixed pedigree it's over further where his future lies. Given a considerate introduction to finish fifth eventually and there should be more to come.

Gradually being upped in trip having tried 6f and the 7f on his two starts so far and shaping each time only running into an above average sort last time. He should have no problem with this extra furlong now and is open to further progress.

Started slowly on his debut due to inexperience bit learnt plenty through the race finishing a comfortable fifth. That considerate introduction is likely to be repaid in the near future and he looks sure to make a big step forward here.

Had looked backward and in need of the experience on his debut and was then given a five month break. Shaped as though he needed the run after that absence and now tries a mile for the first time and best watched here.

Price increased markedly from foal to yearling and this half-brother to three winners makes his debut here with plenty of stamina in the pedigree. Yard have a decent record with their juvenile newcomers here (3/19 last five years) and a market watch is advised.

Forecasts

Gabr (4/9), Bowditch (4/1), Istanbul Sultan (9/2), Volevo Lui (33/1), Blooriedotcom (80/1), Snaffled (100/1)

Verdict

An interesting opener to the card with the majority of these having a chance to open their accounts with GABR being the obvious one after taking the runner-up spot in a valuable maiden at York where the third and fourth have won next time out. Both Blooriedotcom and Bowditch are likely to come on for their initial outing although of the once-raced types Istanbul Sultan looks as though he is capable of making the biggest step forward. Volevo Lui is an interesting newcomer from a yard that have done well with their debutantes here over the past five years.
  1. Gabr
  2. Istanbul Sultan
  3. Volevo Lui
