Useful performer who was once thought good enough to contest the 2016 Fighting Fifth Hurdle. However, not up to that class but back from a break with victory at Perth in early August (beat Dear Sire by 2¼L). Beaten off this mark since but respected.
Enjoyed a stellar summer at Cartmel, notching a hat-trick, and some valuable prizes along the way (all over 2m1f with cut). His mark has risen 26lb collectively (11lb since his latest success), so has more on his plate tonight.
Dual Cartmel winner, but is also a C&D winner (March 2015), and would've won that same contest a year earlier but for a crunching fall at the last. Solid mid summer, including when beaten a neck by stablemate Lough Kent at Cartmel, but needs more.
Competitive for the bulk of last term from marks in the 120's after progressing from the novice ranks (Ayr winner in October 2016). A former fair Flat racer for Mark Johnston, and his recent Sedgefield second to Our Kylie (2m1f good) reads well.
Arrives seeking a four timer following victories at Bangor (twice) and Fontwell. 5lb above his last winning mark (risen 17lb in total), but this race represents a stronger level of competition and that's the slight concern.
Forecasts
Master Of Finance (9/4), Mirsaale (3/1), Beeno (7/2), Prince Khurram (7/2), Captain Brown (9/1)
A compact field of five, but a competitive handicap despite the field size with a number of horses coming into the race in fairly rude health. Both Beeno and Prince Khurram arrive seeking a four timer after stealthily climbing the handicap. The former has to prove his versatility away from Cartmel, whilst for the latter this race represents a sharp step up in class. Therefore, on the back of a solid effort at Sedgefield earlier this month when splitting the likeable Our Kylie and the winning novice Gibson Park, the vote goes to the Malcolm Jefferson trained MASTER OF FINANCE. A four time winner on the Flat for Mark Johnston, this sharp and uncomplicated circuit should suit.
- Master Of Finance
- Beeno
