Went off favourite on his debut over 7f at Chester but very much needed the experience and after being slowly into stride was awkward on the home turn. The early efforts then told and he faded in the straight but should do better after that experience.

Has left the impression after his first two starts (both over 7f) that there is something to work on having not settled last time and ran too close to an overly strong pace. Looks sure to have some improvement left in him possibly over further.

How Bizarre12

Ran to a decent level on his debut over 7f at Musselburgh although that was a fairly modest minor event. Like many from the yard though improvement can be expected on his second run although a little further may well suit him better.

Taking a look at her pedigree she's likely to need further in time but still ran with some promise on her debut at Lingfield over 7f. Stayed on steadily through the race to be nearest at the finish and may be better over a mile plus.

Cost €15,000 as a yearling out of a dam who was a maiden in France but does have some winning relations. Yard have a respectable 17% strike-rate with juvenile debutantes so this one is worth looking at in the market.

Hyanna

Out of an unraced dam she's a half-sister to a French winner at up to 1m1f Rainbow Black. Yard only have a fairly lowly strike-rate (4%) with their juvenile debutantes and this one may well be best watched on debut.

Bred to stay middle distances judging by her pedigree and it looked that way on her debut over this trip at Musselburgh. She may well do better with that experience behind her though although the outside draw here makes life more awkward.

Vera Drake14
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey
5/2
Could well have won on her debut at Thirsk (very tenderly handled) and she showed up well again next time out at Lingfield again over 7f. Looks as though she's still learning and that a mile plus will suit better but open to more improvement.

Forecasts

Vera Drake (5/2), Firby (4/1), Apple Anni (9/2), How Bizarre (11/2), Pelice (13/2), Dragon Tattoo (10/1), Allnite (11/1), Hyanna (33/1)

Verdict

Quite a few of these look as though they could do with a mile plus and that this will still be a little on the short side but there has been a lot to like about the two runs that VERA DRAKE has been involved in and she looks to have more to offer. Both Allnite and Apple Anni have more to offer especially the latter of that duo who really does need a mile plus. Dragon Tattoo is much preferred of the two newcomers for Hugo Palmer who has a decent strike-rate with his two-year-old newcomers. The biggest danger though may come from How Bizarre with the Ryan juveniles always showing some improvement from their debut.
  1. Vera Drake
  2. How Bizarre
  3. Allnite
