Seems best on truly fast ground when racing on turf but enjoys this trip and this seems to be a suitable level of race for him representing a top trainer and well-regarded apprentice.
Useful performer on his day but form has dropped off since the early summer and despite a lower mark now he hasn't shown any signs of an imminent revival.
Has never won over this far but seems to stay this trip, not at his best recently and a revival is needed against some much more in-form rivals.
Still well beaten when finishing second at Newmarket last time out and has questions to answer off this mark but will enjoy the ground and isn't ruled out.
Hat-trick seeker who didn't look like he was in need of a drop in trip when winning at Newmarket last time out (1m, good to soft), but has shown he has the pace for this distance and is clearly still improving.
Has run into some form recently and has established himself as a specialist at this trip. Proven on the ground and potentially well-handicapped having won off this mark in the past.
C&D winner who likes this trip and handles all sorts of ground, but has looked held by the handicapper on her recent starts in similar-looking races to this.
Ran no sort of race on debut but has been running okay in maidens since, this opening handicap mark looks high enough but should have more to offer over this trip.
Forecasts
Plant Pot Power (3/1), Salt Whistle Bay (7/2), Redgrave (4/1), Berkshire Boy (9/2), Another Boy (7/1), Mohsen (12/1), Thomas Cranmer (18/1), Sarangoo (20/1)
Salt Whistle Bay can't be ruled out on his hat-trick bid but the drop in trip here doesn't seem to be the obvious move and preference is for ANOTHER BOY. Ralph Beckett's gelding has returned to something like his best recently but is still on an attractive handicap mark and is proven on both the ground and over the trip. Plant Pot Power probably wouldn't want any further rain but is also considered on his return to turf.
- Another Boy
- Salt Whistle Bay
- Plant Pot Power
