Mare was runner-up three times before finally gaining second career success last time out over 2m3½f at Kilbeggan on soft ground. Should give another good account.
Maiden hurdle winner at Sligo (heavy) in August last year, returned from 356 days off at Kilbeggan this month, not jumping all that well and tailed off. May be seen to better effect for that run however.
Has put in some solid displays in ten hurdle starts winning on two occasions with five place efforts to boot. Well held over 2m at Listowel last week, this longer trip looks a positive.
Gained first success at the 21st attempt in the 3m mares maiden hurdle at Wexford early this month, comes in here with confidence boosted as a result, drops in trip.
Lightly-raced Sligo maiden hurdle winner (2m4½f, good), since well held back there on handicap bow 27 days ago. Could be capable of further improvement, especially if ground dries.
Won a Limerick maiden hurdle (2m) in July beating 15 rivals by 4L when sent off the odds on favourite. Held here and at Roscommon since in handicaps, now tackles longer trip for the first time.
72-rated handicapper on the Flat for trainer Jane Chappel-Hyam, filly made winning start for top connections over hurdles tackling this trip at Tramore last month. The one to beat on that evidence.
Forecasts
Contingency (15/8), Jaime Sommers (9/4), The Birdie Crowe (5/1), Denham Sound (6/1), High Nellie (9/1), Nellie Pledge (20/1), Aunt Eileen (66/1)
CONTINGENCY made a winning start for the champion trainer at Tramore last month and, in truth, she wasn't fully extended to gain it. She should have some improvement here and receiving weight all round, is likely to prove a tough nut to crack again. Jaime Sommers has been showing good form and got her rewards last time at Kilbeggan, she's also very much in the mix for this prize while Denham Sound should be much more at home over this longer trip and The Birdie Crowe may also appreciate stepping up in trip.
- Contingency
- Jaime Sommers
- Denham Sound
