Would be very well treated on the best of her Irish form and handles soft ground well, but hasn't been so good for her current trainer and has to bounce back to be in with a chance.

Not a bad efforts on heavy ground and should get this trip well, clearly unable to show his best form last time out but is certainly on a workable mark and a bold bid is anticipated.

Sole win came on good to firm and unimpressive on soft at Hamilton last time out; not ruled out from hitting the frame if able to overcome that question mark.

Only one run on the Flat so far this year, when out-running her odds to place at 33/1, not in terrible form over jumps either but may need this after a break.

Something to prove on the ground and is hardly the most consistent, but has to be feared if turning up here in his best form after a short break.

0/10 despite having run a couple of promising races. Steps up markedly in trip but this distance shouldn't be a problem for her on paper.

Perhaps not as likely to be suited by this trip compared to some others who try and new distance here; likely to require some more help from the handicapper before getting off the mark.

Red Star Dancer35
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: B A Curtis| T: T D Barron| OR:  53

Hasn't improved much for the switch to handicap company from maidens, much more needed on his first run for this yard having previously been with Linda Perrett.

Some promise last year when trained by David O'Meara but hasn't been able to show that level of form recently and is best passed over here.

Anginolav21
Age: 8|  Weight: 8-10| J: S A Gray| T: Julia Brooke| OR:  45

First Flat turf run for almost two years, but hasn't been performing well enough over hurdles so far this year to be confident about her chances returning to the level.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: Jamie Gormley(7)| T: I Jardine| OR:  45

Ten race maiden but appears to handle give underfoot and pedigree suggests she should improve for this step up in trip given most of her family's form is over middle distances.

Hot Gossip34
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: J P Sullivan| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  45
18/1
Finishing ninth of 13 at Thirsk last time out was the first of her four races where she beat at least one horse home, much more needed now in order for her to even place.

Forecasts

Red Star Dancer (3/1), Sakhalin Star (9/2), Melanna (7/1), Inspector Norse (8/1), Toola Boola (8/1), Leopard (9/1), Shambra (10/1), Royal Icon (12/1), Cool Run Girl (14/1), Hot Gossip (18/1), Anginola (50/1), Dark Illustrator (66/1)

Verdict

SAKHALIN STAR has run some nice races in testing conditions in the past and is assured to enjoy the trip, which already places him at an advantage compared to many of these. He wasn't at his best last time out but had been in good form prior to that, and in what isn't the strongest race a repeat of that level of form may be enough. He is taken to see off the challenge of Royal Icon, who should enjoy the step up in trip, and Shambra provided she handles the ground.
  1. Sakhalin Star
  2. Royal Icon
  3. Shambra
