Lightly raced on the Flat and is up 2lb for a narrow victory at Salisbury last time. This should still prove to be a very workable handicap mark for him but he has something to prove on the ground.

Has returned to something like his best form the last twice, including a victory at Salisbury two starts ago. On the same mark as when running well at Chepstow last time, and though he races at this course for the first time conditions should suit.

Yet to get off the mark but ran one of his better races at Lingfield on soft ground last time out. On a similar mark here and not ruled out, though he does still seem like further will suit him in time.

Slightly inconsistent type who would be right there on the best of his form, but can't always be relied upon to produce it. Does have to be respected as the sole C&D winner in the field, however.

Dual-purpose type who hasn't been particularly impressive in either code recently. More needed now in first time blinkers and from a wide enough draw.

Most of his racing has come on the all-weather but his sole win was on turf; not running to that level recently despite some fair efforts, though jockey's 7lb claim will be of assistance.

Winner at Chepstow two starts ago, his first win since his second career start. Has to prove that wasn't a one-off and ran only okay at the same course last time out.

Had been running very well prior to a nice victory at Chepstow last time out. A 5lb rise seems more than fair and should enjoy this trip; not out of the first four since moving to this yard.

A winner over 7f on soft ground at Lingfield last summer but exceptionally poor since and needs to bounce back here in every sense of the phrase.

No impression on his first start since January 2014 at Brighton last time. Better can be expected if coming on for that run but there was far from enough cause for enthusiasm in that performance.

Yet to get off the mark and hasn't really looked like he is threatening to do so in the immediate future on more occasions than not. First time cheek pieces need to have a significant effect.

Forecasts

Bryght Boy (11/4), Topmeup (5/1), Rolling Dice (6/1), Misu Pete (13/2), Swot (7/1), The Groove (8/1), Barista (8/1), Doctor Bong (10/1), Tally's Son (14/1), Herm (14/1), Zebs Lad (25/1), Birikyno (50/1)

Verdict

BARISTA has returned to form recently and could put his experience to good use here against some younger horses who have questions to answer. He's on the same mark as when running well at Chepstow last time out and a repeat of that performance would see him go close here. He should face stiff competition from The Groove, provided the ground doesn't prove to be an issue for him, and the consistent Topmeup.
