Still a maiden after five starts but went very close on debut and not disgraced on his latest couple of starts. Needs more here but first-time cheekpieces could see him improve.

Run well all three starts over this trip at Beverley, all on good to firm and including narrow success in July, another good effort three weeks ago when doing best work at the finish in coming home third. Ground a concern.

Decent effort on debut over this C&D when second of seven, beaten just ½L. Back here for handicap bow can have say, though may not want to see any rain.

Career-best when winning 12-runner nursery at this C&D last time out, filly could have plenty more to offer and is much-respected going for the follow up.

Winner over C&D in June (firm) and run well enough in both turf runs since to suggest she'll be in the mix once more this afternoon. Poor on debut on good to soft, but may be best to forgive that.

Thrice-raced maiden, ran fair race over the trip at Chepstow last time and has shown promise. Hood on for handicap debut and must improve to collect seemingly.

Forecasts

Roundhay Park (5/2), Zain Smarts (10/3), Big Time Maybe (7/2), Maygold (5/1), Dreamboat Annie (6/1), Tonkolili (10/1)

Verdict

ZAIN SMARTS quickened nicely to win over C&D recently and the manner in which she did so suggests a 7lb hike is by no means certain to halt her progress. She's given the chance to build on that win now. Big Time Maybe looks to be improving and could go well in new headgear this afternoon while Roundhay Park and Dreamboat Annie are also noted.
  1. Zain Smarts
  2. Big Time Maybe
  3. Roundhay Park
