Winner over 5f on AW at Wolverhampton in July on second start, built on that next time at Ripon when runner-up. Bit of a blip latest over 6f at Chepstow but right near the top of the shortlist down in trip for firs handicap.

Has shown bits and pieces of promise in four starts (two on AW) so far, could easily come forward now handicapping and betting check is merited.

Has been favourite / joint-favourite in five of six starts to date, without obliging his followers. Could take a hand in the finish but for now is one to give a watching brief to.

Just the three starts and shaped well enough in C&D maiden last month (good to soft) to merit some consideration now going handicapping.

Filly is unplaced in five starts so far, finished 3½L seventh of ten over this C&D last time out in first-time blinker (discarded here). Tends to get up on the pace, may do better if waited with. Not ruled out.

Forecasts

Spanish Star (15/8), Jim Rockford (3/1), Deviate (7/2), Hastenplace (6/1), Aquadabra (6/1), Fab (7/1), Billiebrookedit (25/1)

Verdict

Jim Rockford has been a perennial market leader in six races to date and, while he's sure to pop up sometime, has become costly to follow already. Deviate would surely be a confident selection but for a poor show last time at Chepstow, though this drop back in distance should be favourable. It might prove wise to side handicap debutant SPANISH STAR, who shaped nicely in a C&D maiden last time out and looks to be on a fair opening mark, while Hastenplace may do better if delivered later.
  1. Spanish Star
  2. Deviate
  3. Jim Rockford
