Maiden winner here over much shorter he's taken a real step forward since July when he won at Hamilton in a small field handicap off a mark of 75. Followed that up with two good runs at Ayr and Chester (won off 79) before being highly tried last time.

Won twice as a juvenile over a mile and has run well since returning from a long layoff and was denied a win at Newmarket on a disqualification. Again ran well last time out at Ascot although a busy spell could be catching up with him and up in trip now.

Already a dual winner this year at up to 1m4f with his latest victory coming at Ripon off a mark of 74 and then made his AW debut last time. Looked to be unsuited by the relative test of speed there and this stamina test is likely to suit better back on turf.

A three-time winner this season looking well suited by a test of stamina having won at up to 2m (that win coming here). Last two starts have shown promise in various ways but underling that he really does need a proper test (stiff test last run).

No surprise to see him upped in trip for his handicap runs and he's run well in two of the three so far. Took a while to hit top stride last time over 1m3f on the AW (just failed) and this trip is likely to suit much better and he still has potential.

Seen to good effect when getting off the mark at Leicester over 1m4f (change of tactics - held-up) and has run with credit since without looking like winning. Possibly needs some help from the handicapper off this sort of mark.

Still a maiden after ten runs but looks very exposed in handicap company and failed to get home over 1m4f last time. Now tried over even further and it looks to have a stiff task here even off his lowest mark yet.

Forecasts

Tor (5/2), Solo Mission (4/1), Dominating (5/1), Pioneertown (5/1), Amelia Dream (11/2), Star Of The East (17/2), Somnambulist (25/1)

Verdict

William Haggas took the first running of this event and he looks to have a good chance of following up with SOLO MISSION who should be suited by the trip and is now back in cheekpieces replacing the blinkers that he wore last time out. It would have been a surprise not to have seen a Mark Johnston representative in this and Star Of The East and Dominating give him a nice 1-2 punch with both looking improving sorts. Tor would be dangerous if he’s granted a soft lead but does need to bounce back from a below-par performance last time. Pioneertown judged on his last run should be well suited by this trip and adds another dimension to an intriguing contest.
  1. Solo Mission
  2. Dominating
  3. Pioneertown
