Yard have a good record with first-time out juveniles (6/28 in past five years here) and have had 67 two-year-old winners already this season. This son of Galileo cost €150,000 as a yearling with the dam placed in a Group 3. Holds big-race entries and respected.

Both of his runs so far have come at York over 7f and he offered plenty to work on from his debut (race won by Acomb winner Wells Farhh Go). Tried again over 7f in good maiden at Ebor Festival and looked to find that trip too sharp but has improvement in him.

Gradually building up her experience and produced her best efforts to date last time out over a mile although she did have the run of the race. Stuck on well to go down to an odds-on favourite who had won previously. Faces a tougher test here though.

Looks to be the stable second string and has a mixed pedigree being by a sire whose progeny have needed time and distance. Has shaped quite well in three outings despite still looking a little rough around the edges and may be better in nurseries.

Forecasts

Dubai Empire (11/10), Dalileo (2/1), Mail Order (5/1), Gamesters Icon (9/1)

Verdict

An interesting contest despite the small field although it probably boils down to experience versus potential on paper the former trait being represented by DUBAI EMPIRE and the latter by Dalileo. In this case it may well be experience that wins the day with Dubai Empire having run behind some smart types so far and he still holds Group race entries. It’s true that Dalileo also holds some fancy entries and comes from a yard that are more than capable of getting one ready first time out but the Quinn horse is just preferred. Neither Gamesters Icon or Mail Order look like they are slouches and both look capable of winning as juveniles but this might just be too much of a test for the girls against two potentially smart boys.
  1. Dubai Empire
  2. Dalileo
  3. Gamesters Icon
