Not exactly made the ideal start for new connections; unseated at the first at Perth in July, and never competitive at Cartmel last month. His Down Royal chasing success (May) came on fast ground, and there's most definitely no fast ground today.
Won just once in 21 starts (over hurdles at Tipperary in October 2011), and has been very lightly raced since 2015. His recent Cartmel efforts haven't offered all that much to imply that he's capable of winning over fences.
A two time winner over hurdles who has performed adequately in a couple of attempts over fences at Tramore and Ballinrobe. Found the ideal opportunity move forward, and a strong showing looks assured with the champion jockey booked.
Infrequent winner (just once in 28 career starts), and has hit the turf on his last two starts over fences. 0 from 20 isn't an attractive chasing profile, but one of the likelier contenders in this race granted a clear round.
Has plenty of stamina and a proven ability to handle testing conditions. A game winner of a 3m1f+ handicap hurdle at Cartmel (soft) in late July, she is worthy of consideration on her rules chasing debut.
Forecasts
Lilywhite Gesture (6/4), Pretty Miss Mahler (7/4), Dr Moloney (4/1), Flycorn (12/1), Swantykay (28/1)
Rules chasing debutant Pretty Miss Mahler must definitely come into contention in a race where her rivals haven't shown masses of obvious potential over fences. She has a proven ability to handle testing conditions as well as plenty of stamina (hurdles winner over further). However, the booking of Richard Johnson is enough to sway towards LILYWHITE GESTURE. This 105 rated winning hurdler has posted a couple of respectable efforts over fences in Ireland during the latter part of August, and this race appeals as an ideal opportunity for her to break her duck over the larger obstacles.
- Lilywhite Gesture
- Pretty Miss Mahler
- Dr Moloney
