Made the odd mistake when successful over fences at the first time of asking at Newton Abbot in July but an early unseat last time doesn't inspire confidence. Slight question mark over this trip too and on balance, others preferred.

Cheekpieces went on for his latest effort at Southwell and he certainly ran no worse for them, but clearly has quirks (has worn earplugs) and this trip a bare minimum. Yard going a little better but winners still hard to come by.

Back to form since joining this yard and won with a bit more than the head margin suggested at Southwell last time. Up another 7lb for that though, and yard gone a bit quieter after a blazing start, so no certainty for the hat-trick.

Related to a few chasing winners, so may do better for the change of obstacles today. Sticking to the task well enough at present and not beaten far at Fontwell last time. Will handle some rain and if jumping fluently, not discounted.

Form of his win over C&D in June got a boost when the second was a winner next time, but he himself badly disappointed next time out when made favourite to follow up. Has had a break and may bounce back, but not one to fully trust.

Useful handicap hurdler at his best (for Gordon Elliott) and well handicapped these days, but that's as a result of some mediocre efforts. Needs to raise his game back over fences and that looks unlikely.

Not really happened for him on his two chase starts this summer, but has excuses for them (ground, trip) and if the rain stays away, should have ideal conditions here. Yard perhaps not in the red-hot form they were, but still, must be respected.

Forecasts

Skilled (2/1), Going For Broke (9/2), Murray Mount (5/1), Ravens Hill (5/1), Kalifourchon (7/1), Aunty Ann (9/1), Vote Of Confidence (50/1)

Verdict

If the rain keeps off then it offers RAVENS HILL his best opportunity over fences to date, as he's not really had his conditions yet and as such hasn't been able to showcase his talent. The tongue tie and cheekpieces should help his cause and he can take this at the expense of Aunty Ann, who promises to make a decent chaser, and Skilled, on a roll at present and should go well again.
  1. Ravens Hill
  2. Aunty Ann
  3. Skilled
