Seemingly regressed for Brian Ellison after a reasonable debut third at Wetherby in early June (1m soft). Possibility that longer trips didn't suit and drops back to 7f on his AW debut for a new trainer.
£46,000 yearling by Phoenix Reach who was a disappointing last of seven on debut at Windsor (6f) in June. However, stable has done well at this track and should be suited by the AW being a brother to Roy's Legacy and Pixilated.

No show in either start to date at Doncaster (7f) or Thirsk (1m), and despite the small field appears the likeliest back number on AW debut.

Had seven attempts at breaking the duck, with six of those coming on Tapeta at Wolverhampton. Her mark in the low 60's illustrates her level, but with her latest form in a class 6 handicap franked, she could be on the premises in a weak race.

Finished runner up to Bassmah in a fairly desperate Redcar maiden in August (7f) and posted no show in a nursery back there subsequently. Makes her AW debut seeking more in an admittedly equally weak contest.

Forecasts

Joys Delight (11/10), Amazing Grazing (7/4), Starboard Watch (11/2), Intoxikating (12/1), Compass Rose (50/1)

Verdict

A race which can only be reasonably described as a very weak and an eminently winnable maiden. Joys Delight really shouldn't be capable of winning a maiden from her current mark of 61, but she's a proven Tapeta performer who will never have a better winning opportunity than this race. Starboard Watch has shown she's capable in similar company at Redcar, whilst Amazing Grazing might be capable of improvement for the switch to the masterful David O'Meara. However, a complete chance is taken on the once raced Gay Kelleway trained INTOXIKATING. Kelleway has a 21% strike rate (3 from 14) with her runners on the AW at Newcastle, and this three-year-old gelding has a pedigree suited to racing on synthetic surfaces.
  1. Intoxikating
  2. Joys Delight
  3. Amazing Grazing
