Like some many before him from this stable going handicapping and trying staying trips has seen a dramatic upturn in form. This one has reeled off a hat-trick on the AW with the last win coming off 68 and now switches to turf off an 8lb higher mark.

Clearly going the right way and followed up a good run at Ayr when winning at Thirsk staying on well over 1m4f. Coped well with this trip at Redcar last time out upped 7lb for his win just failing to get past one who had the run of the race; solid chance.

Finished a creditable second to Vindicator at Thirsk a run that was the "filling in his Wolverhampton wins sandwich off marks of 55 and 62. Found out in slightly higher grade on turf last and his overall read on the surface reads 0/10.

Looked as though he was going to be an improved performer on his turf/handicap debut at Musselburgh in August and ran well there. Struggled to build on that run in two subsequent starts though and looked rather awkward last time out.

Has twice finished second in handicaps, once over this trip, and ran up to her best last time when front running again (runs her best races in this style). However, she has now been beaten in five handicaps and may need some slack in her mark.

Winner of a 7f maiden at Carlisle last season she's looks as though she may have failed to train on having been well beaten in France on her last two starts. Now back on home soil with a visor on for the first time but looks a risky proposition.

May well stay better than his pedigree suggests and has shown better form the further he has gone with his penultimate Pontefract start suggesting this trip would suit. Ran poorly last time out though and doubts remain at the moment.

Forecasts

Wolfcatcherjack (7/4), Vindicator (10/3), Duke's Girl (5/1), Mambo Dancer (5/1), Sheriff Garrett (9/1), Cornerstone Lad (14/1), Miss Danby (16/1), Riviere Argentee (50/1)

Verdict

The main doubt about Wolfcatcherjack is the switch to turf having shown all his best form on the AW winning his last three races on synthetics having been upped in trip. For that reason it may pay to give a chance to the other improver in the race VINDICATOR who has shown he acts on turf and still looks up the up. Duke’s Girl may get the run of this if Mambo Dancer doesn’t decide to challenge her for the early lead but she probably needs an ease in the weights to win a race such as this but should be able to take the minor place.
  1. Vindicator
