No real impact made on either start so far (both 7f), and raced too keenly last time at Sandown. Drops in trip for AW debut.
Made progress from the rear on debut at Pontefract early last month (6f soft) to finish a 4L runner up to Beatbox Rhythm, but disgraced himself subsequently in the Group 3 Acomb at York when refusing to race.
40,000 gns yearling by Farhh out of an unraced dam (Bukhoor). Half-brother to various winners including 6f-1m winner Hawfinch, and the market could prove informative as to his chances.
Stablemate of Blacklooks who shaped with minor promise on debut at Yarmouth in mid August (7f), but didn't really progress on his next start at Sandown last week.
Lord Shanakill colt who hasn't beaten all that many home in a couple of goes in soft ground turf races during August (Catterick and Carlisle). Much more required for AW bow.
€60,000 juvenile ($10,000 yearling) by Lonhro out of Catch The Queen. Tenth foal who is a full brother to Princeofthequeen and a half-brother to six winners. Capable of going well on debut on this type of surface.
Improved on his Haydock debut in July (6f) when finishing a close fifth of 13 to No I'm Easy at Thirsk (6f good). Others possibly have greater scope for improvement, but not ruled out.
Unraced sixth foal by Speightstown out of Yaqeen who is a half-brother to winners which include Istinfaar, Tafawuk and Desert Strike. One of the likelier contenders from a low draw.
Has failed to make his mark in a couple of starts on the AW (including over C&D on debut last month). No reason to expect improvement and probably waiting for a handicap mark.
Stablemate of Lord Caprio who made her debut on Tapeta at Wolverhampton in August (6f), but was never on terms at any stage when seventh of eight to Shania Says.
Well beaten on debut (11th of 15) in a lower grade contest at Redcar (6f) just under a fortnight ago, and little reason to expect masses of improvement for a switch to synthetics.
Fifth foal by Helmet out of Caribbean Dancer. Not disgraced on debut over an inadequate 5f at Ripon late last month (fourth of 11 to Revived). Her pedigree (half-sister to Notarised, Rhythmical, Reggae Star and Dasheen) suggests she'll stay further.
6,000 gns foal by Swiss Spirit out of Piranha who is a half-sister to Go On Go On Go On and Newcastle juvenile winner Ronnie The Rooster. Well worth a market check with this stable adept at producing debut scorers.
Forecasts
Chief Justice (2/1), Sarookh (7/2), Rastacap (4/1), Royal Pursuit (8/1), Saisons D'Or (9/1), Farhh Away (12/1), Blacklooks (28/1), Gembari (33/1), Swiss Marlin (40/1), Little Red Berry (50/1), True North (80/1), Displaying Amber (100/1), Lord Caprio (150/1)
RASTACAP appears to be the pick of those with experience with Chief Justice rather blotting his copybook when refusing to race in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York. The galloping aspect of this track should suit the Mark Johnston trained filly, as she's bred to stay much further than this 6f trip. Of the newcomers, messers Dods, Ryan and Quinn provide interesting types on paper in the the shape of Farhh Away, Royal Pursuit and Swiss Marlin respectively, whilst from a low draw Sarookh (Roger Varian) leads the assault from the south.
- Rastacap
- Royal Pursuit
- Sarookh
