Has won three of her last four for a total rise of 11lb in the handicap. Those wins were on All Weather surfaces, but her other success was on soft ground in France. Will need further improvement but is respected.
The handicapper took his measure after a couple of wins last season, but a slight drop in the weights induced further success at York (1m4f, good to firm) in June. Has a bit to prove again from this mark judged on his last run.
Sole Flat win was over 1m6f (soft) at Haydock two years ago and has won twice over hurdles (with cut) since. Conditions ideal then and he may be better than he showed at Chepstow last time. Interesting dropped in trip.
Won a Leicester maiden (1m, good) last season, one of only four starts for Peter Chapple-Hyam. First start for new yard here and upped in trip. Pedigree offers a fair bit of hope that he will stay and a market check is recommended.
Won here over 1m6f in 2012 but is equally adept over this trip. Has clearly had problems and been seen just once in over two years, when pulled up back here in May. Conditions no problem and on his last winning mark, but risky.
Broke her duck at the sixth attempt at Wolverhampton (1m4f, AW) last month, scoring by 6L. Made a respectable follow-up bid at Kempton last time from 6lb higher, but now has a further 4lb to contend with and that will be tough to defy.
Was readied to win a Windsor maiden (1m2f, good) on debut in April, though he has taken a bit longer to get the hang on handicapping. Went close when stepped up to 1m5½f on soft ground last time. Cheekpieces now added and up 2lb but has claims.
Seeking a hat-trick after winning a Catterick maiden (good to soft) and a Thirsk handicap, both over 1m4f. Up 5lb for the latter, where front pair were over 2L clear and 5lb claimer now assigned. Should go well.
Won a Lingfield maiden (1m, AW) in January and produced his best effort yet at Newmarket (1m4f, soft) last time, when beaten less than 4L. Can't yet say he is exposed and from the same mark he is respected.
Forecasts
Uber Cool (2/1), Opinionate (11/4), Comrade Conrad (4/1), Tomorrow Mystery (10/1), Opposition (10/1), Langlauf (16/1), Sleep Easy (16/1), Sabre Squadron (20/1), Stock Hill Fair (33/1)
Sabre Squadron is interesting stepped up to this trip and could run a big race, while Comrade Conrad could benefit from the fitting of cheekpieces and is entitled to go on short lists. Uber Cool is clearly in cracking form and along with Opinionate, he is very much respected. However, the useful hurdler SLEEP EASY could make this tough going for them given his proven stamina and after a recent sighter, he is a sporting suggestion.
- Sleep Easy
- Comrade Conrad
- Uber Cool
