A winner over C&D for his previous yard his form of late for his current connections has started to go awry and he effectively refused to race last time hanging very badly. His last two runs make him one to treat with caution.

A course winner who looks well handicapped here based on his previous form and shaped with promise at Newbury last time (came from a long way back). Looked to have something left in the tank at the finish and respected here on ground that should suit.

Dual AW winner at the end of last year in maiden/handicap company and looked to be a progressive sort. Subsequently well held on both his turf starts this year in the spring and has something to prove returning from an absence.

Dropped back to a mile on quick ground here on her first start in a handicap she showed improved form to get off the mark and win with a bit in hand off a 6lb lower mark. Looks to have plenty of scope and may well be able to build on this on second handicap start.

Scored a nursery hat-trick in October/November last year all over this distance with the last coming off a 3lb lower mark. Has looked slightly below that level this year but has proved himself on this sort of ground but others preferred.

Won a maiden when trained in Ireland on soft ground so there are no worries there but he looks to have been given a fair stiff mark. Ran well enough last time out but a place may be the best that he can do until the handicapper relents.

Started his career with promise winning on his debut over 7f on quick ground at Redcar under a useful apprentice who takes the ride here. His handicap runs so far have been a rather mixed bag and back from a break here.

Probably showed his best form when winning over C&D (second career win) off a mark of 74 here in July on good ground. But showed his weakness last time and his inconsistency with a poor run here and questions to answer now.

Scored on his first outing for this yard after leaving Simon Crisford when scoring in a Doncaster maiden over 7f on soft ground. Certainly wasn't in anything like the same form last time out on heavy ground at Nottingham but remains unexposed.

Could hardly be said to have been fancied on his handicap debut when sent off at 66/1 and finishing well beaten. Would need to show an awful lot more to take a hand here and readily passed over.

Back on the Flat after trying hurdling last time out (didn't take to it at all) and better judged on his win at Carlisle last time out over 1m1f on soft ground. 4lb higher mark suggests that he remains with scope but overall record stops you going overboard.

Heaven's Rock17
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-8| J: R Kingscote| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  69

For a combination that are always to be reckoned with around here this maiden remains of interest if he can build on his last start off this mark last time out. Could well be suited by this trip and one to include in calculations.

Forecasts

Archie (4/1), Pecheurs De Perles (4/1), Trilliant (9/2), Sir Reginald Brown (8/1), Pumaflor (8/1), Heaven's Rock (9/1), Parole (11/1), Rashford's Double (20/1), Wasm (22/1), Maifalki (25/1), Wigan Warrior (33/1), Different Journey (100/1)

Verdict

Plenty of options in this competitive handicap with Archie looking well handicapped on his old form and given a chance here along with Wasm who could well bounce back from a poor run last time. Trilliant comes from a yard that is in good form and looks to hold scope with the handicapper not having been too harsh on her and there looks to be more to come. But it’s hard to ignore the Dascombe/KIngscote combination around here and their HEAVEN’S ROCK is given a chance to break his maiden here.
