Modest profile over jumps, makes Flat debut now and has some improving to do, jockey booking a plus.
Decent hurdler (won three times) but made just a fair introduction to this sphere at Roscommon last week, further emphasis on stamina here should assist.

Bumper winner at Sligo last month (2m2f, soft to heavy) last month on third start, drops in trip and sports cheekpieces now for first Flat outing, yard in good form and one for the shortlist.

7L fourth of 16 in 1m5f yielding to soft at Navan in October last, having gone off 100/1. First run since and merits market check now.

Winner of a bumper at Killarney last month (2m1f, good) on return from 391 days off, yard going very well at the moment and looks a player over this shorter trip.

Excellent effort in 1m4f Galway Festival maiden last month and since run well over hurdles. Positive jockey booking and is respected.

Bumper winner at Downpatrick in May (2m1f), comes here having fallen at Bellewstown over hurdles six days ago, represent champion jumps trainer and could have a big say if none the worse for recent spill.

Won a 2m4f novice chase at Fairyhouse in January when last spotted, fitness to prove on return and this clearly a different test. Others appeal more.

Suffered heavy defeat on Flat bow at Laytown yesterday, that was over 7f, plenty more required if taking his chance now.

Beaten 9L in Ballinrobe maiden in July over a trip slightly shorter than this, has to improve if hoping to win this.

Well beaten and no impression on two career maidens at Tipperary and Dundalk. Yard a little quiet at the moment and this looks a tough ask.

Nothing in previous bumper/Flat runs to suggest he'll land this contest, beaten 28L in a Bellewstown maiden in July having gone off 50/1.

Went very close at Ballinrobe in a maiden in July over this sort of trip, not as good since at the Curragh (1m4f) and while has that decent form, had had a fair few chances.

Forecasts

First Figaro (4/5), Great Trango (5/1), Bibliotheca (8/1), Chess Grand Master (8/1), Iolani (10/1), King Jeremy (10/1), Mr Nicolls (20/1), Charlie Stout (20/1), Laid Back Luke (25/1), Faraway Hills (28/1), Bakers Street (50/1), Vocal Resurgence (50/1), Lucky Robin (66/1), Wat Tyler (66/1)

Verdict

With the Weld team in full flight now First Figaro is much-respected on the back of last month's Killarney bumper success. If he handles this drop in distance, his chance is there to see again. Similar sentiments apply to Sligo bumper winner Chess Grand Master, who also drops significantly in trip. Iolani fell over hurdles recently but has his chance for a yard going superbly well but GREAT TRANGO ran a fine race in a Galway maiden last month over a shorter trip and, now returned to the Flat, can be given fair claims over this trip.
  1. Great Trango
  2. First Figaro
  3. Iolani
