Yet to break his duck despite 14 previous attempts and largely out of form on his last three starts (all with cut). However, an easy track and faster ground are likely to lead to a better showing and respected from the front end off a plunging mark.

Has largely gone forward since moving to this trainer (from Daniel Kubler), posting a couple of respectable runner up efforts over this trip across at Ayr. Faster ground conditions are a slight unknown, but handicapped to be thereabouts.

Feasibly bumped into one at Redcar at the weekend (State Residence, who runs at Catterick on Wednesday), but with her best form coming over 6f, a step up in trip looks a concern. Possibly better with softer ground conditions.

First time hood wearing new stablemate of Jack Blane. Regressed in seven starts for Ben Haslam, with hopes pinned on a switch to Scotland. Cost £4,000 at the Doncaster Sales earlier in the month.

A surprising winner of a 7f selling handicap at Thirsk last month (beat subsequent winner Melaniemille by 1¾L). That race might have given her added confidence, but this is a stronger contest and she's 6lb higher.

Reliable as a juvenile from much higher marks over 6f at around this time last year (Catterick winner), but only glimmers to suggest that he's trained on and races from a career low mark of just 50 this afternoon.

Nine race maiden who has yet to threaten the judge, and has a tendency to blow the start. Impossible to consider.

Forecasts

My Girl Maisie (5/2), Jack Blane (3/1), Cosmic Sky (3/1), Tagur (7/1), Trick Of The Lyte (10/1), Quiet Moment (10/1), Hot Gossip (25/1), I Dare To Dream (66/1)

Verdict

Not the kind of contest to get heavily involved with, but it would probably be wise to respect the all too obvious claims of the in-form Jack Blane. Furthermore, come the off-time of this contest, Saturday's Redcar form of My Girl Maisie might well have taken a considerable boost, but the over-riding suspicion remains that she'll be vulnerable over this longer trip even allowing for a relatively easy track. Therefore, a real chance is taken on the 14 race maiden TAGUR. His handicap mark is in free-fall, but it's safe to ignore his most recent efforts (on soft ground), and he might well get this race all too himself at a track where front-runners can excel.
