Proved a fair acquisition for this trainer (bought unraced for £3,200), and was a winner over this trip at Thirsk in June. Solid since in handicap company from similar marks to today's, and this race looks fractionally weaker.

All three victories (including the one over C&D earlier this month) have come with some give underfoot. Has steadily climbed the weights since late June, and her current mark might be high enough on this livelier surface.

Unbeaten at this track (2 from 2 over C&D), and has registered a further 7f success at Catterick (July 2017) in his 14 career starts. Conditions look ideal for a big run even allowing for the fact he finished behind Raselasad latest.

Plenty of experience, and has broadly proved himself at this track with a couple of placed efforts. His sole success came over this trip at Ayr earlier in the month, but he's been beaten twice since from this mark and more is required.

Forecasts

Raselasad (6/4), Our Charlie Brown (7/4), The Stalking Moon (9/2), Inglorious (13/2), Trooper's Gold (7/1)

Verdict

Plenty of winning C&D form on offer with Our Charlie Brown preferred to fellow Musselburgh scorer The Stalking Moon. However, a chance is taken on the now gelded TROOPER'S GOLD. He did well as a juvenile last back-end, winning a 7f Tapeta maiden at Newcastle, and the suspicion is that he could represent some value in this contest after a quiet start to 2017 in which a number of factors conspired against runners from this stable. His attitude for the battle looked more than resolute as a juvenile, and his reduced mark of 75 can be exploited.
  1. Trooper's Gold
  2. Our Charlie Brown
  3. Raselasad
