Had very much looked out of sorts this season until showing some signs of life last time out at Pontefract over a mile on soft going. It may well have been that he was suited by that trip and/or the removal of his usual headgear but needs to back that up here.

Useful handicapper who showed some good form when with Ed McMahon winning his last start for that stable off a mark of 73. Not quite been in the same form in three runs for his new yard (ran over too far last time) and now back below his last winning mark.

Has shown all of his best form on a Fibresand surface but has won on turf and despite the trip being too short he showed up well over 7f on his penultimate start. Based on that Haydock run he would have a chance here 7lb below his last winning turf mark.

Despite only winning once this year his form looks strong and he produced a career best to win at Nottingham on his penultimate start. Off for 63 days after that he was still in good form last time out (travelled well) although undone ultimately by a 5lb rise in the weights.

Can be rather unreliable but was in a good spell of form until disappointing last time out over 1m2f. That run was highlighted by a Hamilton win over a mile off a mark of 62 but now 7lb higher he may need to find his form again before he's of interest again.

Consistency has been a real watch word for her this year and she probably deserves to win a race such as this. Has filled the placings on her last six starts but the nudge up the handicap by 3lb may just put this out of reach.

Has had plenty of racing for one of his age and has run well here before (dual course winner) and his last win came over C&D showing a good attitude to get up late on. Has run poorly in two start s since then one over further here and a bit to prove now.

Last run can be written off (got upset in stalls and slow away) and better judged on her previous run/win at Beverley over 7f which has proved strong form (all three behind her won next time). Travels strongly and not out of this on previous form.

The step up to trips at around a mile has looked to suit and he's 2/2 at this trip (prominent both times) and has shown a progressive profile. Up in grade and under a penalty last time out gave him a tough task and may do better here eased in grade off a short break.

Got back to some sort of form last time when running third to an improving sort in this grade although she remains a maiden. Does look a little awkward in a finish though so not hard to see why she remains a maiden.

Upped in trip to a mile for his last run in a maiden he showed that handicaps would show him in a better light. Did just that although possibly needing the run when travelling well on handicap debut over 1m2f but a little strange to see him back at a mile here.

Forecasts

Ventura Secret (3/1), Whitkirk (3/1), Totally Magic (5/1), Dandyleekie (8/1), Dominannie (11/1), Captain Revelation (12/1), Racemaker (14/1), Rosy Ryan (16/1), Venutius (20/1), Hernando Torres (33/1), Indian Vision (40/1)

Verdict

Quite competitive and there are various points of entry although some things have to be taken on trust here. Captain Revelation features on a good mark while Totally Magic is a very consistent sort although she does have trouble winning with Whitkirk another to consider although his mark might just have him pegged now. Rosy Ryan can be given a chance if her last run is overlooked with Dandyleekie another to throw in the mix over this trip. In the end the most progressive profile belongs to VENTURA SECRET who can be forgiven his last run (may have come too soon in a tougher grade) and he’s well drawn to go forward here on a track that suits those prominently ridden.
  1. Ventura Secret
  2. Totally Magic
