Yet to score over timber but went close over 2m at Worcester last time, finishing 3L second of 11, and has fair claims of going one better now over this longer trip.
Just the three runs so far, well held on hurdles bow at Warwick (2m3f, good) in May, could improve on that and worth a check in the betting for Pond House team.
Poor on debut in Uttoxeter bumper last month and tailed off since in novice hurdle at Fontwell (2m1½f, good to firm) 12 day ago, doesn't appear to hold a strong chance on form.
No impact in pair of bumpers in late 2014, failed to complete in six most recent point-to-point runs and looks set to be up against it on rules return.
Promising in runs at Southwell and Ffos Las in May, flopped here upped to 2m5f earlier this month. Drops in trip now and potentially can bounce back.
Finished 9L second to Gettysburg Address in a maiden hurdle over 2m5½f here recently, that was a first run for 921 days and has to be respected if able to repeat the effort.
Showed a bit more on return to action at Stratford over this sort of trip 26 days ago but still left with improvement to find after three starts over timber. Others have stronger claims.
Forecasts
Watcombe Heights (11/10), Amanto (2/1), Snow Castle (5/1), Midnight Magic (12/1), Wild Murphy (14/1), Monty Massini (100/1), Shadow's Boy (125/1)
If WATCOMBE HEIGHTS copes with this second run in quick time after a long layoff, he'll surely go close. He was no match for the jolly over a longer trip here recently but was a clear second (Snow Castle a long way behind) and has fair claims on that evidence if able to reproduce it now. Amanto has had chances over timber but showed last time when second at Worcester that a win might be coming soon (third won well at Fontwell last week), he can go close over this shorter trip. The aforementioned Snow Castle isn’t written off after one poor run while Midnight Magic could also be capable of better.
- Watcombe Heights
- Amanto
- Midnight Magic
