Already racked up ten wins in his short career with an unblemished record over fences of 4/4 has only beaten 10 rivals in total over fences though. Hard to fault how he jumps and travels though and fully deserves a chance in handicaps of a mark of 142.
Formerly with Paul Nicholls he's been consistent for this yard taking advantage of a falling mark to score on his second start for them at Perth last year over 2m4f. Not won since then but showed his best form since when second here in May off this mark and respected here.
Proved to be an improver for this yard over hurdles winning twice but looks as though he could be better over fences. Has taken both his chases so far over C&D in his usual exuberant manner the latest a handicap for which he went up 7lb and this is tougher than usual.
Resumed winning ways over C&D in May (beat Katgary) showing his best form for ages off a mark of 123. Hasn't quite been able to match that form since and was beaten 6L by Wisty over C&D in July never quite able to match the winners pace on that occasion.
Often promised more than he actually delivered over fences when with Nicky Henderson and only won once whilst there. Made little impression so far for his new yard and his return to fences last timeout over C&D on soft going left him with questions to answer.
Both his chase wins have come over C&D the last of those coming in fortunate circumstances( rarely runs anywhere else these days). His chase form since that last win reads F66 and the fall appears to have rather rocked his confidence although the ground was soft last time.
Forecasts
Bagad Bihoue (5/4), Wisty (5/2), Katgary (11/2), Oliver's Gold (7/1), Nicolas Chauvin (9/1), Fantasy King (16/1)
Just six go to post in a race that should be run at a good pace with Wisty bidding to keep his unbeaten Cartmel fencing record intact and he’s sure to go from the front again. It may well be though that his mark is getting a little high and handicap debutante BAGAD BIHOUE may well be able to use his good jumping here to hunt down the likely leader. Both Katgary and Oliver’s Gold add some depth to the race although both have a little work to do whilst the Moffatt pair Nicolas Chuavin and Fantasy King have questions to answer.
