Put a disappointing effort at York behind him when stepping up to this trip for just the second time in finishing fourth in a small field at Pontefract (soft) last time. Looks in the grip of the handicapper at present.

Best effort of late came when beaten 1L at Newmarket (good-to-soft) over this trip last time out. Races off the same mark today though unraced on ground quicker than good.

Latest success came in a 1m2f seller at Lingfield (good-to-soft) in July. Ran well in a claimer since but failed to beat a rival home returning to handicaps last time and others have a more obvious chance in this.

Returning from an absence when held over C&D a month ago. Had previously finished runner-up in an amateur riders contest on the AW at Lingfield in February and likely to have improved for her latest effort.

Forecasts

Zorba The Greek (11/8), Hard Toffee (3/1), King of Dreams (4/1), Hannington (9/1), Sunshineandbubbles (12/1), Color Force (22/1)

Verdict

ZORBA THE GREEK has been running well of late and can register his second career success wearing blinkers for the first time in this opening apprentice handicap. The selection has finished runner-up off this mark the last twice and can get the better of Hard Toffee who was returning to form when finishing a close fourth last time out while Sunshineandbubbles, can claim third on her second run back following an absence.
  1. Zorba The Greek
  2. Hard Toffee
  3. Sunshineandbubbles
