Denied a four-timer in the Summer Mile last time but in fine form this year prior to that, having won two Group races. Would ideally prefer a strong pace but still looks to hold strong claims under a penalty.

Not far behind Sovereign Debut at Sandown in April but otherwise a long way past his best and hasn't won since a Listed race at Windsor in June 2016 (0/35 in Group company).

0/10 in Pattern/Listed races up to now but good as ever when finishing a fine third in Group 3 company last time out. Ground-versatile and should be capable of at least hitting the frame here.

Just touched off by Success Days at York when last seen, in Group 2 company, and though he hasn't won a race since last year's Arlington Million that form in itself clearly has to be respected. A leading contender in conditions which should suit.

Career-best when winning a competitive Chelmsford handicap last time. First attempt at Group company here but ran well in a Sandown Listed race last September and is the care of a top trainer for older horses.

Has been outclassed in Group company several times this year but he won't mind the extra furlong and has always given the impression that he has slightly more to offer than he has been able to up to now.

Third to Beat The Bank at Goodwood last time appears to be good form, and though he appears a little way off the best of these he is capable of further improvement and would appreciate any rain.

Mustashry (5/2), Mondialiste (4/1), Make Time (4/1), Sovereign Debt (6/1), Forest Ranger (13/2), Master The World (8/1), Gabrial (20/1)

Verdict

He would probably prefer a stronger pace in a race of this nature and the penalty isn't ideal, but it is still impossible to ignore the claims of SOVEREIGN DEBT in this race. Ruth Carr's charge has been an absolute hero so far this season, winning two Group races and didn't enjoy a perfect passage in his one slightly disappointing performance, at Ascot last time. With that run forgiven he is taken to beat a group of talented horses who for the most part can't be relied on, none more so than Mondialiste, who would be right there on his best form but perhaps can't be trusted to produce it, and Make Time, whose third to Beat The Bank at Goodwood last time looks like good form.
  1. Sovereign Debt
  2. Mondialiste
  3. Make Time
