Good effort in 20-runner Ascot contest on reappearance off this mark in April, failed to sparkle in two subsequent runs and comes here off a midsummer break. Could go well.

Thrice a winner when in the care of Richard Hannon, landed an apprentice contest at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) in June for this handler but well below best since.

Successful over 6f on the AW at Wolverhampton four weeks ago and best turf effort this season came when runner-up over C&D in June. Hails from a stable with a 18% strike-rate (4-22) of late. In the mix.

In good form this month, winning over 6f at Salisbury and the taking second spot over slightly short trip at Bath, both on good ground. On the same mark but this is tougher.

Just four runs behind him and could have plenty more to offer, reappearance at Leicester was full of promise in June (6f, good to firm) and perhaps not suited by soft ground since at Newmarket where he travelled well. Worth considering.

Won at Goodwood in June over this trip on good to soft off a mark of 70, but flattered to deceive in three runs since. Latest Yarmouth effort was a step in the right direction.

C&D maiden winner last year but struggled most in four runs since, with this season's two efforts particularly tame. Has had a break since Goodwood in June.

Broke his duck over C&D last month in apprentice contest on final start for Roger Charlton, struggled since at Yarmouth and has a bit of improvement to find if hoping to score this evening.

Ex-Richard Fahey inmate has had just two runs for this yard, desperately close to gaining a win at Yarmouth latest (6f, good to soft) and competes here off the same rating. Hood worn last time is left off.

Off the mark in soft-ground Hamilton maiden over this trip in June, has gone poorly in two further runs at that track and needs first-time blinkers to bring about some improvement.

Forecasts

Fivetwoeight (3/1), Field of Vision (7/2), Abiento (5/1), Cappananty Con (7/1), War Whisper (7/1), Himself (14/1), Artscape (14/1), In The Red (20/1), Souls In The Wind (25/1), Cat Silver (28/1)

Verdict

FIVETWOEIGHT is very much unexposed and it might pay to forgive a below par run at Newmarket last time on soft ground. That was just his fourth start, and his turf debut/seasonal reappearance at Leicester previously was full of promise. He could easily improve on the likely sounder surface now and is worth risking. Cappananty Con was an AW last time but has no problems on turf and should go well while Field of Vision and Abiento are in good form and have their claims.
