One of two C&D winners in the field an ease in his mark saw him record a win at Chester on his penultimate start. Not really seen to good effect when beaten at Goodwood last time (poorly placed) and will appreciate this ease in grade again.

A winner at Ayr in June when he appreciated the emphasis on stamina over 5f having given notice that he was coming back to form. Raised 5lb for that win he's found it tough off his new mark and looks set to find things tough again.

Looks to be a reformed character to some extent after a wind operation recording two wins in his last four races with both victories coming over 5f. Ran well enough under a penalty last time out but finds himself 7lb higher than his last win here.

Yet to win this year but looks to be in good form at the moment although this 5f does look a little on the short side for him and a return to 6f would suit a lot better. Likely to run a sound enough race but may be found wanting for pace over this trip.

Three wins in his last four starts have shown this C&D winner in a good light with all his victories coming with cut in the ground. Certainly produced a career best last time out and may have to progress further here but hard to write off.

Scored from out of the blue at Hamilton in June under an enterprising ride to enjoy a decent positional advantage. Failed to really build on that run but did show that he was still capable of running with credit at Ayr last time out when beaten by a thriving winner.

Improved on his second start this year to win her first handicap over 5f off a mark of 75 and has run with credit since then. The handicapper does rather look to have a hold of her off this mark and place could be the best she could hope for.

From a yard that has been in good form all season he finally got off the mark at Pontefract last time on soft ground over 5f. That win was all about becoming well handicapped (14lb lower than his last wining mark) and he has a little more to do now.

Claimed his first turf win on his initial start for this yard at Leicester recently over 6f (well supported). Faces a rise in grade now and drop back in trip off a 5lb higher mark but not totally ruled out with possible progress to come.

Forecasts

Show Palace (5/1), Pomme De Terre (5/1), Twizzell (11/2), Geoff Potts (6/1), Confessional (13/2), Memories Galore (7/1), Tarboosh (8/1), Desert Ace (8/1), My Name Is Rio (10/1), Lexington Place (14/1)

Verdict

There are a few in-form types here that are looking to build on recent successes and it’s a competitive heat for the grade. Memories Galore will carry a 6lb penalty for his recent Thirsk win where he looked to race on the best part of the track so will have to step up again a comment that can also be applied to Geoff Potts. Lexington Place has a little more to do here than last time but may well still be feasibly handicapped and Confessional should enjoy the ease in grade. SHOW PALACE is the suggestion though in the hope that the ground stays soft enough and he can produce some more progress and maintain his winning theme.
  1. Show Palace
  2. Memories Galore
  3. Lexington Place
