Winner over 1m at Pontefract last month in this grade, since struggled back there in better company but should run well here with no worries over the trip.
Four career wins, three on turf, and been running consistent races over this sort of trip lately, gone very close twice at Beverley and weighted to do so again.
Has threatened in recent starts at Beverley and Carlisle (1m) to land a blow, runs off same mark now dropped in distance and give underfoot should suit fine.
4lb higher than when winning this race last year and recent effort over a mile here may have stretched the stamina. Could have a say.
Not won for over a year now but has gone close in defeat on a couple of occasions. Suspicion he's better on faster ground though and may struggle here.
Lightly-raced gelding has only had three runs, rarely threatening to land a blow. Handicap debut now, with plenty improvement to find.
Has already won back-to-back races at Haydock (both 1m) this season on good to firm ground and would ideally want conditions to be a bit faster than forecast but not ruled out.
Shaped well enough last time at Beverley over extended mile, and ought to be dangerous very soon of this much-reduced mark. Watch in betting.
Decent efforts at Haydock and Pontefract preceded a comfortable victory at Nottingham in June. Not seen since and is 5lb higher, but has to enter the equation given the authority of that success.
Registered three AW wins in February and March, but last three efforts on turf have not been quite so good. Slipping down the handicap, but needs to get back on track.
Won over an extended mile at Beverley last month on good to firm but since run two below par races at Redcar and here over a mile. Questions to answer again.
Went close at Leicester over a mile last month but very poor early this month over 7½f at Beverley. Sports first-time blinkers now and wouldn't be out of this if they have desired effect.
Forecasts
Mon Beau Visage (9/2), Off Art (6/1), Worlds His Oyster (6/1), Sidewinder (7/1), Briyouni (15/2), Whitkirk (8/1), Sovereign Bounty (8/1), Destroyer (8/1), Vaulted (16/1), Celtic Artisan (40/1), Shearian (40/1), Different Journey (66/1)
Last year's winner Sovereign Bounty is 4lb higher now but should at least be favoured back over this trip having perhaps run out of gas latest. Mon Beau Visage and Worlds His Oyster continue to threaten and are considered along with Off Art, who has slipped to a very workable mark now. WHITKIRK was an impressive winner last time out at Nottingham and given the authority with which he got that job done, a 5lb hike is far from certain to halt him now.
- Whitkirk
- Mon Beau Visage
