Despite looking a hard ride on occasions he's been progressive since being gradually stepped up in trip completing a hat-trick last time. Edged up another 6lb for that win this will prove tougher but given a good test he will be hard to write off.

Useful sort over hurdles and fences who won three times in 2015 and nearly upset a well-handicapped sort over fences on his penultimate start producing a career best. Not at his best last time (again over fences) he seeks to exploit a lower mark switching back to hurdles here and is respected.

Dual hurdles winner who has slipped back below his last winning mark following a patchy spell of form.. Jumped poorly last time out over hurdles at Market Rasen and has questions to answer now over this trip.

Her last two wins have come over hurdles taking on staying trips each time producing a career best when winning at Cartmel in July off a mark of 94. She displayed her inconsistency though by running poorly over the same C&D next time and hard to rely on her.

Makes his handicap debut here on only his third career start having been placed in two small field Perth novice hurdles. Low-level handicaps have always looked as though they would suit better but hard to think he is thrown in here of a mark of 102.

Certainly not in the sort of form that he was in 2015 (scored three course wins here, two over C&D) but did take advantage of a much reduced mark to win at Perth on his penultimate start. Showed his inconsistency when failing to follow-up but still off a good mark if in the mood.

Now over hurdles after looking increasingly difficult to win with over fences often taking ages to get going and needing plenty of encouragement. Jockey booking takes the eye but his demeanour is not compelling at all and he's best left alone..

Final Flingp19

10/3
Remains a maiden over hurdles with his best effort looking to have come over C&D on his penultimate start off a 1lb lower mark. Looked to need the run last time after a break although his overall profile doesn't make a strong case for support here.

Cheekpieces appeared to make the difference when he won on his handicap debut but his form since that win has been very inconsistent. Tried in a visor last time (retained here) but still ran poorly and is 4lb out of the handicap here. Tough task.

Forecasts

Patricktom Boru (11/4), Onlyfoolsownhorses (3/1), Final Fling (10/3), Perseid (9/1), Mo Rouge (10/1), Court Baloo (12/1), Nicki's Nipper (18/1), Native Optimist (25/1), Solway Palm (50/1)

Verdict

This isn’t a deep race with several exhibiting some very inconsistent profiles and it must give Onlyfoolsownhorses a good chance of completing a four-timer with this trip and course looking to suit his rugged style of running. PATRICKTOM BORU needs to bounce back from a poor run last time but his penultimate run suggested that he could still be up to winning something like this and he looks to exploit his lower hurdles mark here. Solway Palm has less convictions than most of these and low-grade handicaps always looked as though they would show him in a better light. Both Native Optimist and Nicki’s Nipper are real stayers it’s hard to know what to expect from that duo despite being capable of running with credit if in the mood.
  1. Patricktom Boru
  2. Onlyfoolsownhorses
  3. Solway Palm
