Was in decent form over in Meydan when last spotted, first run on these shores since December but no surprise to see him run well.
Honest sort who was well beaten in two outings at the Galway Festival recently. Has won three times around here in the past from much lower marks. Would be dangerous if granted a soft lead.
Ran well when finishing third of 15 on seasonal debut over 1m at Naas (good-to-firm) in May. Disappointing in three runs since and more needed if he's to have a say here.
Seven-time winner around here, latest coming over this trip in February. Tends to have more off days than on now, but cannot be ruled out with any degree of certainty.
Two wins already this year from six runs, had been model of consistency until folding in Class 2 Hamilton contest latest. This is much less taxing and handles the AW.
Was supported for Group 3 at Leopardstown in May on reappearance, didn't run to form there. Sports first-time blinkers now back in action and making handicap debut. Claims if ready to go off the layoff.
Dropped back to 6f last time at Naas and duly produced the goods, running on strongly between rivals to score. Up 4lb for that win but claims if in the same mood (Engaged on Thursday evening at Leopardstown).
Won a maiden at Down Royal over 5f last summer but struggling afterwards in handicaps over longer trips. Off ten months and surely facing tough task on return.
Twice a winner here already this year over 5f/6f in the spring. Ran fine race at Leopardstown this month (6f, good to firm) on first start since June and entitled to build on that. Hood back on and looks a player.
Filly yet to open her account around here after ten attempts. Can be given a chance off this rating however and been running sound races on turf lately.
Debut winner over 6f at Fairyhouse in September 2015 but nothing to add since, run some decent races in defeat this year but most recent effort at Naas (6f, good) last month was poor. Bit to find.
Consistent sort who has an admirable 37% strike rate on AW surfaces, won on sole previous try at this C&D and merits plenty respect off this rating.
Has won here before, recent turf efforts have been a bit disappointing and isn't favoured at these weight, cheekpieces back on but others appear to have more going for them.
Forecasts
Captain Power (3/1), Reckless Endeavour (7/1), Sharp Defence (7/1), Golden Pearl (7/1), Shepherd's Purse (10/1), Alfredo Arcano (10/1), Holy Cat (10/1), Jamesie (10/1), Rivellino (14/1), Geological (16/1), Togoville (16/1), Palavicini Run (20/1), Confrontational (33/1)
RIVELLINO hasn't brought his game to the turf this summer but he wasn't given a hard time at Fairyhouse most recently and could thrive back on an artificial surface. He holds an admirable record on the AW and scored here in April on his only previous visit to this venue. He's attractively weighted if the return to the surface sparks him into life. Holy Cat was backed for a Group 3 at Leopardstown on seasonal bow in May and has to be worth noting on first outing since while Geological would be dangerous if getting the run of the race. Alfredo Arcano knows how to win around here and is another respected on return to the AW game.
- Rivellino
- Holy Cat
- Alfredo Arcano
