Has shown some useful Flat form but running below-par at the moment in that sphere. Came back from a poor Flat run to win over hurdles on his second try over obstacles in a maiden at Cork and is open to improvement although on bare form he has something to find here.

Only lightly-raced so far over jumps and is showing progression with every run and opened his account last time out in a Wexford novice over 2m. Has more to do here but couldn't be ruled out with some improvement to come.

Has shown some decent form over hurdles winning twice in April over 2m in handicaps off marks up to 105. Hasn't run badly of late and is probably better than the bare result last time out at Galway having to make up ground from a wide position with that effort telling in the finish.

Useful hurdler who has already won twice this year over the smaller obstacles in handicaps at Wexford and Clonmel off marks up to 110 showing improved form on each occasion. Has continued his upward progress and should be able to take a hand here.

A winner over C&D in June in a novice he's actually shaped well enough in two subsequent starts over hurdles and last time out on the Flat. Has more to do here at the weights though and would be a surprise winner.

The only mare in the field she's also a C&D winner who goes here with the tongue-tie on for the first time. Her good run of form came to an end last time out however never really going with any fluency and it may well be that she finds 2m a little too sharp now.
Lightly-raced sort who scored on his second run over hurdles and confirmed the promise that he had shown on his debut when scoring at Ballinrobe last time out beating Skeaping (runs earlier on the card). That race came over slightly further than the 2m here but he should be able to progress again although he'll need to as this is tougher.

Forecasts

Spin A Yarn (3/1), Fridaynightlights (4/1), Jefferson Davis (9/2), Abraham (5/1), Little Folke (11/2), Get Smart (8/1), California Soul (20/1)

Verdict

A difficult yet intriguing punting puzzle with Spin A Yarn likely to be one of the market leaders after his positively-ridden win last time out but he has to cope with a more experienced field here. Little Folke has a tongue-tie applied for the first time although this trip could be a little sharp for her now and Get Smart is preferred to that one. JEFFERSON DAVIS is the overall suggestion though with his form still looking on an upward curve and any continued progress would see him go close to taking his competitive heat.
  1. Jefferson Davis
  2. Spin A Yarn
  3. Get Smart
