Picks up a 6lb penalty for a narrow success last week when the front two pulled clear of the remainder. Has never won off a mark this high but a lack of credible opponents gives him a chance to rectify that.
4-55 record with latest success coming at Carlisle when produced late to win by 2L. Had less luck in running next time when well beaten in better company. Handicap mark looks high enough for now and further rain would hinder his chances.
Has been campaigning over 5f lately but this is more his trip. Down to his last winning turf mark with the yard enjoying a good month and well worth considering. Visor goes back on.
Landed a hat-trick under this rider in 2016 with the latest of those wins coming off 8lb higher. Suited to cut in the ground which makes his latest effort even more disappointing.
19-race maiden who has been failing to complete the course in point-to-points this year. Almost pulled off a surprise at Newcastle on return before finding 5f too sharp at the same venue on stable debut 17 days ago off this revised mark. No forlorn hope in this but best form has been over 7f and this may not be a stiff enough test.
20-race maiden who is usually thereabouts. Looks held by Perfect Words and Vecheka on recent form but it would surprise few if he made the frame once more.
Her only win came on her AW handicap debut around 18 months ago and her mark has been falling since then on the back of hit and performances. Last of 12 two weeks ago when failing to build on a more encouraging run at Catterick. Stable in form but still hard to recommend.
Maiden after 12 races who has never finished closer than 3L to any of those winners. Drops in class after a better effort last time when sporting blinkers for the first time. A further 3lb drop in the weights and the current form of the yard make her a credible option in a weak race.
Seven-race maiden had a stiff task on turf debut when running in higher grade from out of the weights. Remains hard to fancy on form and with the stable going through a quiet spell.
Suited to a soft surface on turf and now 5lb lower in the weights than for his last success a year ago. Stable in excellent form and retain the blinkers which had a modest impact last time.
Lightly raced mare who showed some improvement last time in a weak race at Beverley. Needs to find a lot more to be a contender here.
Has failed to trouble the judge this year and sole win came in a seller two years ago. Finished last of 13 on his most recent start and it is difficult to envisage him being involved.
Forecasts
Hadley (3/1), Whipphound (7/2), Perfect Words (8/1), Ypres (17/2), Nellie Deen (9/1), Spirit Of Zebedee (10/1), Six Of The Best (14/1), Mitchum (16/1), Jess (18/1), Diamond Indulgence (25/1), Vecheka (28/1), Whispering Wolf (66/1)
It is hard to get excited by all but a few in this with Perfect Words and Ypres boasting recent winning form but with their current marks asking more of them than they have achieved in a while. Whipphound is unreliable but could just choose today to produce one of his better performances with the yard going well. Nellie Deen drops in class for another in form yard and has each-way potential but we hand our vote to SPIRIT OF ZEBEDEE. His performances have slipped since being dropped to 5f but off this mark, back to his optimum distance and with headgear refitted, he has every chance of bouncing back for a stable that have been enjoying a good spell this month.
- Spirit of Zebedee
- Nellie Deen
- Perfect Words
