Relished the extra yardage (albeit holding on at the finish) when a head too good for Coal Stock (runs at 2.45pm) over C&D last month. Softer ground to contend with on his nursery debut, but plenty of scope for further progression.

Arguably a disappointment since winning narrowly at Carlisle in May (5f good to firm). However, in numerical terms this isn't a strong contest, so having travelled a long distance to race has to be considered. Bred to stay this trip (albeit, does need to prove it) and the main worry might be the softer surface.

Gelding by Showcasing who has had five goes at shedding the maiden tag, and is possibly regressing if judged upon his weakened tamely sixth of 11 at Windsor latest (dropped to 5f). Claims on earlier form, but another with stamina to prove on rain softened ground.

Verdict

Just a small field so possibly a tactical affair is in store, which is probably just as well for a couple of those with stamina to prove (Airshow and Ventura Dragon). The sole filly SIMPLY BREATHLESS appears an upwardly mobile juvenile, and her opening mark of 70 looks perfectly fair on what she's achieved to date and she can be fancied to get the better of the top-weighted previous C&D scorer Liva.
