Has only tasted success once in 24 career starts (here in November 2016), but has performed with credit on plenty of occasions and is beginning to slip to a more attractive mark. However, she's better suited by a shorter trip (1m) and is therefore opposable.
His career profile suggests he's not as effective on synthetics as turf, but he did finish second over a shorter trip on Tapeta at Wolverhampton in early June. A narrow Ffos Las winner over this trip on his penultimate start he races from a 3lb higher mark and has a wide draw to consider.
Developed a strong C&D record over the winter months (1,1,2) rising out of the bowels of Class 7 handicaps. Not too many opportunities for her of late at this track so unsuccessfully forced to venture elsewhere, and certain to be suited by a return to her favoured stomping ground (competitive from this mark) and with an up and coming claimer booked.
Veteran who is a four time career winner on turf (mainly over 1m2f) but as of yet is unraced on synthetics. Overall not too much promise to be mustered from three starts in 2017.
Solid on Tapeta during the winter; winner of a maiden at Wolverhampton in January, and a nose runner up from a 7lb higher mark over C&D in early March. Lost his way on turf since, but definite claims on that earlier form.
10 race maiden who has done the majority of his racing over shorter trips (akin with his age). Not beaten all that far when fifth over this trip in a similar apprentices contest at Windsor latest, and a runner up on his sole start on synthetics (Polytrack).
A 13 race AW maiden (has won of turf), but twice a runner up over C&D earlier this year, including when beaten 2L by Spirit Of The Vale in March. Has been consistent since (winning at Redcar in April and runner up at Musselburgh latest) but inching up the weights and strictly on these terms shouldn't have the measure of her old C&D foe.
12 race maiden who had one fair piece of form for previous trainer Warren Greatrex (runner up over 1m4f at Catterick). Moved on cheaply in May 2017 after a lengthy absence and well beaten (exuberant) on recent Worcester hurdles debut for this stable.
In good form last August, and landed this very contest by ¾L from Reckless Wave (from a 5lb higher mark) before following up at Wolverhampton. Largely quiet since, but does have course form tied up with Kerry Icon (February 2017), and couldn't be discounted from a lowly mark with a promising rider booked.
Achieved little in four starts for Tracy Waggott and no better on stable debut and return to action at Redcar last month. Dropped 7lb, but a massive surprise if she figures.
10 race maiden (ex Marco Botti trained), but shown nothing since joining this stable and well beaten on all three starts at this track (7f-1m). Up in trip, and one can only cling onto the fact he might benefit from his latest start (reappearance).
Eight race maiden, and in truth her form figures make for pretty grim viewing. Little chance on her reappearance in June (stable debut) and this is more realistic, but needs somewhat of a transformation to figure.
10 race maiden and evidently no great shakes, but not beaten too far at Redcar latest (four places behind Lozah) and cheek-pieces are now applied.
Not shown much ability in four starts since early June, including on handicap debut at Doncaster last month (1m2f soft). Dropped 3lb and still early days, but needs to show something and the market might guide as to her likely prospects of showing improvement. Stable also saddles Good Time Ahead.
Forecasts
Lozah (10/3), Good Time Ahead (4/1), Spirit Of The Vale (11/2), Kerry Icon (8/1), Permanent (17/2), Mount Cheiron (9/1), Pindaric (11/1), Sakhalin Star (14/1), Judicious (28/1), Bigbadboy (40/1), Shine Baby Shine (40/1), Ferngrove (100/1), Snappydresser (100/1), Ingleby Erin (150/1)
The sole day of racing on the Tapeta at Newcastle this month sees plenty of course regulars line up for a low grade apprentices handicap. Mount Cheiron took this contest in 2016 before following up at Wolverhampton later in August. He looks likely to be competitive from a fair mark with Ger O'Neill booked to ride. Good Time Ahead has lost his way on turf lately, but is still relatively youthful (aged just three) and has previously demonstrated an affinity with Tapeta. Similar statements are true with regards SPIRIT OF THE VALE. She thrived over this C&D during the winter (1,1,2) and looks by far the safest option under an up and coming rider.
- Spirit Of The Vale
- Good Time Ahead
- Mount Cheiron
