Well held in a pair of Windsor maidens over 1m and more recently over this trip, when he weakened out of it on good to soft ground. May have frame claims with a better effort but more likely to see some productivity when he goes handicapping.

Similar efforts in a pair of maidens so far, both when there has been cut in the ground. Perhaps not fully convincing that he got the 1m3f at Carlisle last time, so this drop in trip should help, but he is another who might do better when handicapping.

Was with Mark Halford when beaten 23L on debut at Navan (1m, good) in April. Changed hands in June for £9,500 and now makes his debut for this yard with a step up in trip. Interesting to see how he goes, though a watching brief probably advisable.

€33,000 foal who went for €160,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to a French/Spanish 7f-1m3½f winner and a winner in Malaysia. Dam was placed over 1m2f. Trainer yet to have a 3yo in the money from four previous runners, but a precautionary market check is suggested.

Has the best public form of any of these, though proving a bit frustrating to follow, having been runner-up in all three starts this season, twice as favourite. Goes back up in trip again and doesn't appear to be anything wrong with his attitude, so if he produces more of the same he may get off the mark.

Has started at big prices and been beaten by big margins in maidens at Kempton (1m4f, AW) and Windsor (1m2f, good to soft). Was gelded between those starts and did at least make some improvement second time. If he can take a similar stride forward here he would have each-way claims.

Sent off as joint-favourite on debut at Redcar in April (12f, good to firm) when beaten just over 1L into second. Has to prove that he handles some cut, but if doing so then he has claims here, provided he can improve upon that first run.

Well beaten on his sole juvenile start here over 1m½f (good). That was nine months ago, so he should have come on plenty in the interim and it would be no surprise to see him benefit both from a bit of time and also a step up in trip to go very well here.

Forecasts

Mafaaheem (4/6), Zeelander (9/4), Sketch Book Venue (8/1), Relevant (8/1), Lazarus (14/1), Amazing Grazing (14/1), Raining Stars (25/1), Casemates Square (25/1), The Groove (50/1)

Verdict

MAFAHEEM sets the standard here and although there is an air of vulnerability about him, it is he who gets the vote to break his duck. Relevant looks next best on paper, with Sketch Book Venue, Raining Stars and Zeelander all potential improvers who can get involved at the business end.
