Ran his best race to date when beaten a neck by Mancini at Pontefract last month (1m4f good to firm). That race lacked depth and he probably lacks a change of gear (stayer) but should go well enough for his young rider.
Newcastle maiden winner in October 2016 (7f) who went under by a neck on his seasonal return when upped to 1m2f at Doncaster in June. A shade disappointing next time at Ripon and yet to definitively prove he stays this trip, but largely unexposed and therefore of interest.
Upped to this trip over C&D for his handicap debut last month, but could only finish fourth of 12 to Amelia Dream. Appears a consistent sort, but whether he has enough about him to break his duck here is open to discussion.
Seven race maiden who is usually thereabouts, but maybe lacks the pace or the will to sustain a winning challenge. Has done plenty of racing on the AW including when upped to this trip at Newcastle on his most recent start when 1L third to Montanna.
Eight race maiden whose best effort came at Carlisle in June (runner up to Solo Mission) but disappointing since and failed to beat a single rival at Ayr on his latest outing (hung left and weakened).
15 race maiden who has made the frame from this mark on his last two starts. However, his stamina looks massively questionable over this longer trip on the strength of his rather tame finishing effort in those races over 1m and 1m2f.
Six race maiden, but bumped into a couple of fair rivals (Brimham Rocks and Nordic Combined) when third at Haydock on his penultimate start. Not so good over C&D since and work to do with Bolder Bob accordingly with the first time cheek-pieces fitted.
Nothing to be excited about in three starts last back-end and makes a belated return to action having been off since November. Steps up in trip for handicap debut (lowly mark) and that could well suit as his half-brother Duchess of Gazeley was a 1m4f to 1m6f winner.
Forecasts
Crushed (2/1), Count Simon (9/2), Bolder Bob (5/1), Second Page (6/1), Legato (8/1), Just In Time (10/1), Powerful Love (14/1), Challow (16/1)
CRUSHED needs to conclusively prove his stamina over this longer trip, but he's less exposed than the majority of these runners so deserves a chance to do so. He made a pleasing impression when scoring over 7f at Newcastle in October and was given plenty of time off to develop thereafter, so connections clearly think a little of him. If his stamina is found to be lacking, it will be the galloper (lacks a change of gear) Count Simon who is best placed to capitalise.
