Maiden Irish pointer who finished a tailed off last of seven on his rules debut in a Perth bumper in mid July. Needs to do much better in order to be involved on hurdles debut.

11 race maiden (all codes). Finished runner up on debut in a bumper at Wetherby in March 2016, but hardly progressive since and not really involved at a lowly level on the Flat of late. Hurdles debut.
Tailed off on hurdles debut at Stratford, but was going better (allowed a lead) when slipping up on the bend approaching three out back there a week later. Difficult to assess the strength of that effort, and what he might have found at the finish, but has place claims in a weak race.
Joined this trainer after bolting up in a Gowran Park bumper in late June, and was sent off at odds-on on stable debut over C&D last month. However, he was no match for all the way winner Hestina (beaten 12L). Drops into a maiden hurdle today, and the tongue tie is applied.

Rated over 100 in his prime on the Flat, and a Meydan winner for Saeed Bin Suroor in January 2014. However, has largely struggled for this yard since his return from an extended break in October 2016. Embarks on a new career over hurdles and clearly has the ability to play a hand if revitalised.

Most effective on the Fibresand at Southwell, and was tailed off on his hurdles debut over C&D last month, and has plenty to find with Mcgroarty on that evidence.
15 race maiden on the Flat and has shown precious little on four starts in England for this trainer. Makes hurdles debut at a realistic level.

4/1
A two time winner over 1m on the AW, and has made a solid if unspectacular switch to hurdling. His stamina is probably the chief concern, and it's therefore no surprise to see him kept to sharp tracks like Fakenham, Stratford and Market Rasen, but likely to be on the premises in such a weak contest.
9
Horse silk
12/1
Shock winner of a Worcester bumper in June 2013, but very lightly raced since. Finished fourth on hurdles debut at Towcester in November 2016 (not disgraced), but pulled up at Southwell next time and not seen in action since.

Forecasts

Mcgroarty (4/11), Ritasun (4/1), Saxo Jack (6/1), Little Dotty (12/1), Justice Knight (25/1), Competition (28/1), Stun Gun (50/1), Fisherman's Blues (50/1), Ask Shanroe (200/1)

Verdict

Point-to-Point and bumper winner MCGROARTY was arguably a fraction disappointing when beaten 12L on his debut for this stable over C&D last month. However, he takes a drop in grade on his second start for the yard (maiden hurdle) in a race which won't take too much winning. He should be good enough to get the job done, and with with Ritasun having questionable stamina, the one time classy Saxo Jack might well prove the best of the rest.
  1. Mcgroarty
  2. Saxo Jack
  3. Ritasun
