Like all bar one of these in this nursery this is his first handicap experience having run well on his second start which was over C&D when beaten by his stablemate. Proved disappointing last time out when only third here over the same trip but the stable have a good record in this sphere this year and he must be respected.

His debut run remains his best yet and overall he's failed to build on that Pontefract third over 5f on quick ground when he showed his inexperience. Tried over 6f last time for the first time and it looks as though handicaps may offer him the best chance to get his career back on track.

The sole contender in this who has already run in a handicap but failed to improve in that sphere on his debut in it over 7f at Carlisle. Got off the mark returned to maidens last time over 6f at Catterick making the most of a soft opportunity and is now returned to nurseries off a mark that he should be competitive off.

Has shown progress from his debut although his last two runs have only been of a similar nature although the 5f trips he's run over so far haven't looked to bring out the best of him. There's plenty of stamina in his pedigree on the dam's side and this 6f plus further in time will help and he's an interesting contender.

Forecasts

Star Of Zaam (11/8), Magic Jazz (9/4), Austin Powers (3/1), Sinaloa (8/1)

Verdict

Just a small field go to post here but they all hold some sort of chance but its STAR OF ZAAM who makes the most appeal now coming back in nurseries off a mark that he ought to be competitive off. Austin Powersneeds to bounce back from a poor run last time out and it may well be Magic Jazz that provides a test for the suggestion especially given that this step up in trip is likely to suit with Sinaloa looking to be a little below par at the moment.
  1. Star Of Zaam
  2. Magic Jazz
  3. Austin Powers
