Front runner gained breakthrough win over 7½f at Chester in June, showing good attitude to do so. Unable to sustain challenge back there since off 4lb higher mark. Can get out in front from draw here and dangerous to write off.

Still a maiden but showed improved form when second last time out over a mile at Leicester in May, moving much better without the hood that she usually wears (back on now). Went with plenty of zest and interesting to see how she backs it up having switched to this trainer since.

Reappearance at Beverley (7½f, good to firm) was encouraging when keeping on for second of nine, but since flopped at Redcar (1m, good to firm) and so goes back to the drawing board for now. Bit frustrating.

A half-brother to Ribchester he may be, but has become rather frustrating and expensive to follow in remaining a maiden after eight starts. Has been ridden forward and held up but unable to get the job done and hard to recommend for now.

Decent effort over 7f at Ayr on reappearance last month but no real sign of progress in three runs since, including over 7f around here. Is due some relief from the handicapper having run poor race on the AW at Wolverhampton over extended-mile latest. Others look more likely.

She appeared to have a bit up her sleeve when taking a Hamilton maiden (1m½f, good) 15 days ago on second start. Yard in decent form and this opening handicap mark appears to be very fair.

Ten-race maiden now, showed a bit more purpose here last time over slightly longer trip before fading. Drop back a plus but stiff ask from 5lb out of the handicap surely.

Forecasts

Valentino Boy (11/4), Golconda Prince (3/1), Snowy Winter (4/1), Mont Royal (6/1), Coral Princess (7/1), Twiggy (7/1), Rosemay (8/1), Inglorious (12/1), Four Wishes (12/1), Pantera Negra (16/1), Testbourne (16/1)

Verdict

SNOWY WINTER has just two runs behind her but the second those resulted in something of a cosy maiden win at Hamilton just two weeks ago. Her hard are developing a reputation for being quite shrewd quickly and so this handicap debut is very interesting and she might just prove up to adding to her tally. Likely front runner Valentino Boy needs to bounce back from a tame effort but would be dangerous of handed to much rope while Mont Royal, Twiggy and Rosemay are others on the shortlist.
  1. Snowy Winter
  2. Valentino Boy
  3. Rosemay
