Was a shock 50/1 maiden winner on stable debut at Wetherby last month (1m2f good) in May and also won in the mud at Carlisle (1m3f) in June. Well beaten off a revised mark at Ascot last time but return to testing conditions will suit.

Has faced some stern tests since his juvenile victory here last season. Again went well here when a runner-up over 1m2f (good to firm) in June but beat only one home at Ascot (1m4f, good) last time. Unproven on soft ground.

Finally obliged at the fifth attempt when taking a 1m2f handicap at Pontefract (good to firm) in June but only third off a revised mark at newmarket (1m2f, good) last time. That race may have come too soon (six days apart), so may do better now.

Won three times for Paul Cole last season, including over 1m2f on good to soft ground. Ended last year out of sort but encouraging return for this yard when a close third at Windsor over 1m2f (good). Could easily improve over this longer trip.

Showed plenty of promise on his native France last season, winning over 1m3f on his debut and also going close over 1m4f (good) on his final start. Recently changed hands for €75,000 and a positive market move would be interesting.

Didn't look the easiest of rides in his first two starts but narrowly held on to open his account at the third attempt at Lingfield (1m3f, good) in May. Found it tough going on his handicap debut at Newbury (1m4f, good to firm) and mark may be too high.

Won twice last year over 7f but was beaten twice at short odds initially this season. Much more like it when winning a handicap over slightly further here on Wednesday (soft) and has to be of interest turned out under a penalty.

Likeable pedigree and well-supported for his debut over 1m2f at Pontefract (good to soft) last month, duly obliging with something to spare. The third placed home that day has won since, so he could be competing off a favourable mark for his handicap debut over a longer trip.

Finally delivered at the fifth attempt when winning a Salisbury maiden (1m2f, good to soft) in good style last month but unable to back that up over a longer trip on quicker ground at Newbury a week later. Return to an easier surface should help.

Has improved with each run, culminating in a maiden success over 1m2f (good to soft) on this course in June. Slightly longer trip for his handicap debut and interesting to see blinker introduced. Opening mark looks workable with improvement likely.

Second on his debut over 1m on the AW, showing lots of ability coming from an unpromising position, and duly went one better at Lingfield next time (1m). Interesting prospect over a longer trip on his turf/handicap debut but unraced since January.

Hit or miss as a juvenile but signed off with an impressive success in a 1m nursery at Ripon (good), shaping as though middle-distances will suit this season. Feasibly-treated but plenty to prove on belated reappearance against race-fit rivals.

Forecasts

Londinium (2/1), Walton Street (7/2), Me Too Nagasaki (7/1), Swiftsure (8/1), See Of Rome (10/1), Opinionate (11/1), Tuff Rock (11/1), Shymkent (14/1), Bear Valley (16/1), Cross Step (20/1), Count Calabash (25/1), Star Of The East (25/1), Reshoun (33/1), Neshmeya (33/1)

Verdict

Londinium confirmed his liking for soft ground when winning here on Wednesday and his chance has to be respected under a penalty as he heads a three-pronged attack from Mark Johnston. Preference though is for the unexposed handicap debutant WALTON STREET who has seen the form on his Pontefract maiden form boosted since, suggesting he could be leniently-treated. Swiftsure, Me Too Nagasaki and Opinionate also make varying levels of appeal.
  1. Walton Street
  2. Londinium
  3. Swiftsure
