No win since 2013 and was very poor when last spotted at Wincanton (3m1f, heavy) in March, has joined new yard since but best watched for now seemingly.
Scored on return to action at Newton Abbot in April over 2m5f but has not managed to run to anything near that level in two outings since. Any further rain a concern considering all six chase wins have come on good or good to firm ground.
Off the mark at the second time of asking over fences at Killarney last month (2m4½f, good to yielding) and though lightly raced, comes here in need of career-best effort to defy new mark.
Unable to get off the mark in five start over fences but not without promise. Ran best race for some time at Worcester in June (2m7f, good, good to firm) over hurdles and could build on it reverting to this game from 3lb lower rating.
Has won five times from 44 starts over fences but really toiling since Worcester win a year ago (2m7f, good). If there is a positive, his best effort in that spell came here over a similar trip in April on testing ground.
Landed a couple of hurdles races at Towcester last year and proved he stays well. Struggled this year over timber and fell on chase debut at Uttoxeter last month having never threatened to get seriously involved.
Beaten the best part of 100L at Market Rasen last month (2m3f, good) on second chase start and only third run under rules in novice event. First start handicap now and has been given a chance but has struggled in point-to-points.
Out of form since winning a handicap chase over 2m5f at Fontwell (good) in October 2015. Handicap mark falling as a result but hard to recommend at present and not getting any favours at these weights.
Forecasts
The Trigger (11/10), Brave Helios (3/1), Moorlands Jack (7/1), Kilcascan (9/1), Fled Or Pled (11/1), Legend To Be (16/1), Moorlands Mist (20/1), Tribal Dance (50/1)
Not an inspiring contest, with doubts over many of the participants. The Trigger at least comes here on the back of a win, scoring at Killarney on his second chase start. He also gets the champion jockey to aid him now though must defy a career-high rating to double up. Moorlands Jack could have a say but any deterioration in the ground would come as a major worry while Kilcascan has not been in great form lately but did go well here in April – he would likely relish the sight of more rain. BRAVE HELIOS ran a notable race over timber at Worcester last time out and could open his chase account now coming here off a lower mark, with no issues over softer ground in what is not a strong contest.
- Brave Helios
- The Trigger
- Kilcascan
