Made all for a comfortable C&D success last time on similar ground. The third home looks a good yardstick and gives the form a solid look. Should be hard to beat for a yard with a 6-26 record here with juveniles and a further 12 making the frame.

Stable have often targetted this event in the past. However, this son of Foxwedge has plenty to find in order to add to their recent successes.

Price rose to £20,000 as a yearling and the first foal of a lightly-raced half-sister to smart winner at up to 7f Mehronissa. Fourth on Sandown debut but that was not a particularly strong heat and more needed here. Stable in form.

Down the field at long odds for both starts and he looks the type who will do better in nurseries. Stable have been going well and owner's retained rider gets the mount for the first time, but still hard too see him winning.

Cheap purchase who finished last of eight on debut. Looks out of her depth in this company.

Forecasts

Doublet (5/6), Guvenor's Choice (13/8), Deja (13/8), Chess Move (9/4), Bombshell Bay (8/1), Chilean (12/1), Motabassim (18/1), Lady Maldiva (50/1)

Verdict

Deja attracted support for a decent Newmarket maiden and receives a handy allowance from his main rivals. Like many from the yard he can be expected to build on his debut effort but DOUBLET has proven he handles this tricky circuit and will benefit from a front-running ride from an in-form jockey. The stable's juveniles have an excellent record here and we give him the nod. Chess Move did little wrong on his latest start here and Governor's Choice is one to note in the ring as his stable are in cracking form at present..
