Frankel colt impressed on Newbury debut in May (soft) before taking Leicester maiden (good to soft) by a nose the same month. Stepped into Listed company for the Chesham at Royal Ascot on good to firm over this trip since and found it too hot. This is much more attainable and should prove hard to beat.
Yard tends to do well with juveniles and has a 22% strike rate overall in recent times (5/22). Colt made a fair start here over 7f in June when just over 4L fourth of ten runners in a maiden and ought to be capable of a bit better now.
Roderic O'Connor colt, cost €38,000 as a foal and €50,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to four winners, most of which succeeded over further than this trip. Has finished well beaten on both starts to date and likely to do better once he has obtained a handicap mark.
Dark Angel colt makes his first appearance here, trainer does better than average with his 2yos and should be worth a check in the betting.
Shamardal represents powerful yard whose 20% success rate with 2yos remains impressive. First start here and no surprise to see him going well, despite fact things have been a bit quiet for the yard lately.
Newcomer out of Medicean, yard not noted for producing first-time-out 2yo winners and likely to be wiser for the experience.
The market expected little (40/1) and he delivered that when last of eight on debut at Chepstow in June (good to firm), when he was understandably green. Steps up from 6f here, but really this looks like being another educational experience.
Thewayyouare colt making first racecourse appearance in this, market should prove reliable judge for yard that does well enough with juveniles.

WESTERLAND found himself in at the deep end last time out at Royal Ascot on unfamiliar ground and he understandably struggled. The son of Frankel has been given some time to get over that and now finds a good opportunity to resume his progress. The likely ground will be fine and he sets a fair standard for his rivals to aim at here, ensuring he is very much the one they have to beat. Connect made a decent start at this track in June and can improve to be competitive here while Strategic is also likely to have some say. The Stoute-trained newcomer Ledham could prove the big threat to the selection while another debutant, La La Land, is also worth looking out for.
